The Director of the Cancer Research Institute (ADU-CRI) at Abu Dhabi University is a leadership position responsible for shaping the future of cancer research within the university and beyond. Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Provide visionary leadership for the Cancer Research Institute, ensuring alignment with Abu Dhabi University's research strategy.
- Develop and implement research initiatives in precision and personalized cancer medicine.
- Foster collaboration among faculty, national and international research institutions, clinical partners, and industry stakeholders.
- Engage with governmental and regulatory bodies to align research priorities with UAE healthcare strategies.
Securing External Funding
- Lead efforts to secure internal and external funding for cancer research initiatives.
- Guide faculty in proposal submissions for national and international research grants.
- Establish partnerships with industry stakeholders, pharmaceutical companies, and healthcare providers for research funding and collaborative projects.
Interdisciplinary Research & Innovation
- Oversee the execution of high-impact interdisciplinary research projects focused on key cancer research priority areas.
- Support and drive translational research activities, ensuring alignment with international best practices.
- Strengthen ADU-CRI's research capacity by integrating expertise from biomedical sciences, clinical oncology, molecular genetics, immunology, and related fields.
- Facilitate industry collaborations for technology transfer and commercialization of research findings.
Networking And Representation
- Engage with governmental, private sector, and academic stakeholders to facilitate knowledge transfer and research impact.
- Represent the Cancer Research Institute in national and international forums, conferences, and research collaborations.
- Establish and maintain relationships with global cancer research networks, hospitals, and regulatory agencies.
Governance & Ethical Compliance
- Ensure adherence to ethical guidelines, including IRB-approved clinical research protocols.
- Oversee the institute's infrastructure, including laboratories, research teams, and project management structures.
- Supervise faculty, researchers, postdocs, and students involved in cancer research activities.
SECTION III: KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Minimum Educational Qualifications Required For The Role
Ph.D. in a relevant field (Oncology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Genetics, or related disciplines), with a minimum academic rank of Associate Professor
Minimum Years Of Experience Required
A minimum of 10 years of post-Ph.D. experience at a reputable higher education institution.
A minimum of four years experience in leading a research center, research group, or a similar setup.
Nature Of Relevant Experience Required
Demonstrated expertise in translational cancer research and personalized medicine.
Experience in securing external research funding and industry collaborations.
Strong background in interdisciplinary research involving molecular biology, cancer biomarkers, immunotherapy, and clinical oncology.
