About the job:

Kent is looking for a Project Control Director to be located in Saudi Arabia

Skills and Responsibilities:

General

  • Direct, manage, and oversee project controls for a multidisciplinary capital variety of projects spanning different business lines, including FEED, Detailed Engineering, Construction, EPC, and commissioning services projects.
  • Responsible for functions related to project planning and scheduling, cost control, monitoring and forecasting, progress measurement, risk management, reporting, document control, and management.
  • Ensure full implementation of company processes and procedures, as well as industry best practices, with respect to project controls.

Resourcing:

  • Mentor and lead a large staff of project controls team members, ensuring appropriate staffing for projects.
  • Conduct regular staff performance reviews and manage any staffing issues that may arise.

Systems:

  • Develop, manage, and implement project control processes, tools, and systems (cost control, progress measurement, forecasting, scheduling, document management, risk management).

Execution:

  • Guide and direct the resolution of project difficulties and complex project control issues.
  • Oversee the project baseline process for cost, schedule, and progress, ensuring all project systems are implemented according to process and company standards and procedures.
  • Identify trends in cost and schedule, manage the change management process, and communicate and suggest corrective actions.
  • Establish a risk management protocol that includes the identification, documentation, mitigation, and tracking of potential risks on the project. Additionally, determine the potential cost and schedule/progress impacts of potential risks as they are identified.
  • Establish and manage project schedule development, review, and update processes, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the overall master schedule.
  • Develop with his team a progress measurement process for the required scopes of work.
  • Establish and conduct regular risk management sessions with the team for projects.
  • Ensure document management is extensively managed, and the software is well utilized.
  • Participation in main bids for Saudi business and assurance of delivery of the required deliverables on time

Performance Monitoring:

  • Set and manage the team in project baselines submission and maintaining, conducting regular reviews of schedule, budget, and scope for early detection of variances.

Coordination and Interface:

  • Coordinate with cross functional team and stakeholders in project setting, ensure project controls team members are interfacing with engineering, procurement, contracts, Operation, Finance, construction and corporate management on concepts and relationships to the scope of and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards and participate in regular project meetings

Reporting:

  • Gather information and prepare reports and presentations of information as needed on the project.
  • Ensure the accuracy of reported progress and cost forecast percentage based on the rules of credit established within the project
  • Manage and ensure all project required reporting is pared and submitted as per approved reporting schedule for the project
  • Ensure reporting to management is done in a timely and quality time that support executive decisions

Risk & Change Management:

  • Identify and communicate design changes, scope changes and schedule slippages and potential impacts and participate in the identification of mitigations

Identify, assess, and manage risks and opportunities; review variations, claims, and change orders to protect commercial positions

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, Business or related fields and overall 20+ years experience in project controls, with Minimum 10 years of experience in a leadership role in project controls
  • Strong analytical skills in project controls, with a strong background in large-scale construction, infrastructure, or oil & gas to review all project controls information and ensure accuracy as well as identify issues, concerns and potential mitigations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook,P6, Ecosys, and PRA,Aconex, Safran
  • Professional certification (e.g., PMP, CCP, EVP from AACE International) are preferable.

Communication:

  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication.
  • Strong Leadership ability and communication, analytical, management and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a high paced project environment

Behavior/ Core Competencies:

  • Experience with bids submission for Saudi clients, requirements, deliverables and interfaces is mandatory
  • Full awareness of Aramco/KJO and other Saudi Companies is mandatory.
  • Construction experience with an ability to maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions in a construction environment
  • Strong understanding of Primavera and with overall planning process and best practice on capital mining projects
  • Experience with cost control including project estimating, forecasting and cost management including reporting
  • Understanding of accounting functions and systems
  • Experience with ERP system, estimating software, SAP
