Drafting Operator

Job Purpose

Provide drafting to the Retail Development department for assembly of Lease Outline Diagrams (including coordinated MEP drawings), unit modifications/reconfigurations for the purpose of tenant enrolment, change orders and issuance to the construction team.

Responsibilities

To support the Department by providing the following:

• Create accurate and detailed technical Lease Outline Diagrams and Coordinated MEP Drawings and plans using CAD software and resourcing from BIM360. Visit site, collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to understand design specifications, site conditions for accuracy of unit sizes etc. (as necessary) and ensure design intent is carried out in final product. Review and revise designs based on feedback from team members.
• Preparing drawings for the assigned project, designing and drawing rough sketches, revising drawings and markups, developing work methodologies, updating design documents, developing layouts and drawings, ensuring compliance of engineering and drafting standards.
• The Draftsperson may be required to assemble as-built drawings for each retail unit (which will become part of the Final Pack for handover of documents to the Operations team.
• Responsible for the distribution and filing of the drafted drawings
• Deliver necessary paperwork and documents to the respective department individuals ensuring completeness. Timely, accurate and efficient preparation and management of drawings
• Understands the equations, calculations and written instructions from team members, designers and engineers before beginning a drawing.
• Uses special notations and symbols to give instructions on drawings and blueprints
• Uses manual drawing skills for plans that cannot be computer generated
• Draws layout as required
• Revises drawings based on instructions from direct report
• Determines impact of site requirements and building codes before doing drawings or blueprints
• Liaise with respective team located on site to collect data for drawings. May require site visits to survey units as necessary.
• Consults with Directors to understand their instructions and to answer their questions
• Monitors compliance with building codes throughout the construction process
• Reviews engineering data to ensure compliance with the original design plans
• Modifies existing drawings if necessary and as instructed by the Directors
• Draws illustrations of services and architecture for manuals
• Liaises with the Document Controller whom provides and controls the numbering, sorting, filing, storing and retrieval of both electronic and hard copy documents produced by technical teams, projects, tenant drawings and respective departments
• Scan and upload paper documents and organize them on the secure server as per department processes
• Responsible to ensure revisions and Title blocks are constantly updated

Job Requirements

Qualification and Experience

• Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years of experience in the Middle East.
• Skilled in creating detailed drawings and models for Projects. AutoCAD Drafter with a strong background in creating 3D models and drawings for Retail Projects
• Bachelor’s Degree
