Draftsman

Job Summary

The Draftsman is responsible for preparing accurate, coordinated and construction-ready drawings, layouts, schematics, details and as-built documentation for Digital EPC projects. The role supports the engineering and project delivery teams by converting approved design inputs, technical calculations, vendor information and site conditions into controlled drawings that comply with project standards, client requirements and applicable drafting conventions.

The position supports ICT, telecommunications, structured cabling, ELV, security, audio-visual, smart systems, data-centre infrastructure and associated power, mechanical and architectural interfaces. The Draftsman works closely with discipline engineers, BIM coordinators, document controllers, vendors, construction personnel and commissioning teams to maintain drawing accuracy, revision control and multidisciplinary coordination.

The role contributes directly to efficient procurement, fabrication, installation, testing and handover by ensuring that technical drawings are clear, complete, traceable and issued in accordance with the approved deliverable schedule. It also maintains updated red-line and as-built records throughout the project lifecycle.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Engineering Drawing Production

Prepare plans, sections, elevations, details, schematics, single-line diagrams, riser diagrams and installation drawings based on approved engineering inputs and project standards.

2. ICT & Digital Systems Drafting

Produce drawings for structured cabling, fiber networks, equipment rooms, racks, containment, telecommunications, ELV, security, audio-visual, smart systems and related infrastructure.

3. Drawing Coordination & Interface Management

Coordinate drawings with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, civil and specialist-system information to identify and resolve spatial and technical clashes.

4. BIM & Model-Based Documentation

Support BIM and model-based delivery by creating, updating and extracting coordinated information in accordance with the project BIM execution plan and required level of detail.

5. Design Revision & Change Incorporation

Incorporate approved comments, technical queries, vendor data, design changes and site instructions accurately while maintaining full revision traceability.

6. Construction & Shop Drawing Support

Prepare and update coordinated shop drawings, builder-work details, equipment layouts, containment routes, mounting details and installation information required for site execution.

7. As-Built Documentation

Update drawings using verified red-line markups, inspection records and site information to produce complete and accurate as-built documentation for handover.

8. Drawing Standards & Quality Control

Apply approved templates, symbols, layers, line weights, scales, naming conventions and document standards and perform self-checks before submission for engineering review.

9. Document Control & Deliverable Management

Maintain orderly drawing registers, native files, reference files and transmittal requirements and coordinate timely issue of deliverables through the approved document-control system.

10. Team Coordination & Technical Support

Work closely with engineers, supervisors, vendors and project stakeholders, clarify drafting requirements and provide timely drawing support to procurement, construction, testing and commissioning activities.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Digital Drafting Experience: Minimum 5+ years in engineering drafting
• CAD & BIM Experience: Minimum 3+ years using industry-standard design tools
• EPC Project Experience: Minimum 3+ years supporting design and construction delivery

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

• Diploma or Associate qualification in Engineering Drafting, Computer-Aided Design, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, Architecture, or a related technical discipline

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Design, or a related field is advantageous

• Relevant AutoCAD certification or recognized CAD drafting qualification preferred

• Revit, BIM, telecommunications, structured cabling, ELV, or data-centre drafting training is advantageous

• Training in document control, drawing standards, HSE, or quality management is an advantage
