Job Description

The Drill & Blast Supervisor will be responsible for the daytoday supervision of drilling and blasting activities, ensuring operations are carried out safely, efficiently and in line with approved designs, standards and production targets. Working closely with quarry operations, technical teams and contractors, the role plays a critical part in maintaining fragmentation quality, productivity and compliance across largescale quarry operations.

This position requires strong field presence, sound technical understanding of drill and blast practices in hard rock environments, and the ability to lead and develop crews in a safetycritical, highoutput operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily drilling and blasting activities to meet production and safety requirements
  • Ensure drilling and blasting is carried out in accordance with approved designs, procedures and regulatory standards
  • Coordinate drill and blast crews, equipment and contractors to maintain consistent production output
  • Monitor drilling accuracy, blast execution and fragmentation results, escalating issues as required
  • Conduct prestart meetings, toolbox talks and onsite safety inspections
  • Ensure compliance with explosives handling, storage and blasting regulations
  • Liaise with quarry operations, maintenance and technical teams to optimise outcomes
  • Maintain accurate records, reports and shift handovers
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to drill and blast performance

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in drill and blast supervision within quarrying, mining or largescale hard rock operations
  • Strong practical knowledge of drilling methods, blasting techniques and explosives management
  • Demonstrated experience supervising crews in safetycritical environments
  • Relevant blasting certification or shotfirer qualifications (as applicable to jurisdiction)
  • Sound understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements related to blasting
  • Ability to work effectively in a highproduction, operationally demanding environment
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Willingness to work shifts as required by quarry operations
