Job Description
WSP is seeking a Dry Utility Inspector to join our Abu Dhabi team and support the construction supervision of major transportation, roads, utilities, and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting dry utility works, monitoring site construction activities, and ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, authority requirements, and quality standards throughout project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Inspect dry utility works including electrical networks, street lighting, telecom systems, ICT networks, and associated infrastructure.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, and authority requirements.
- Conduct site inspections for trenching, duct bank installations, cable laying, chambers, substations, and utility crossings.
- Review contractor shop drawings, method statements, material approvals, and inspection requests.
- Verify that installed works meet quality standards and approved construction methodologies.
- Coordinate with Resident Engineers, Site Engineers, contractors, utility authorities, and other project stakeholders.
- Witness testing and commissioning activities for dry utility systems.
- Identify non-conforming works and assist in implementing corrective actions.
- Maintain inspection records and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Monitor health, safety, and environmental compliance during site activities.
- Ensure works comply with local authority regulations and utility provider requirements.
- Support project teams in achieving quality, safety, and schedule objectives.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Dry Utility Inspector on infrastructure, roads, transportation, or utility projects.
- Proven experience in construction supervision consultancy environments.
- Strong knowledge of dry utility systems including power distribution, street lighting, telecom, ICT, and associated infrastructure.
- Familiarity with utility authority standards and specifications within the UAE.
- Experience inspecting trenching, duct banks, cable installations, utility chambers, and associated civil works.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Experience witnessing testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Strong communication, coordination, and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience on major infrastructure and transportation projects within Abu Dhabi or the UAE is preferred.
- Consultancy-side supervision experience is essential.
