The Electrical Leader is responsible for leading and supervising all electrical maintenance activities within the frozen meat and chicken processing plant. This role ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical systems, production equipment, refrigeration systems, and automation controls, while maintaining compliance with food safety, safety, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Maintenance & Operations
- Lead electrical maintenance activities for production lines, cold storage, freezing tunnels, refrigeration systems, packaging machines, and utilities.
- Ensure uninterrupted operation of electrical systems including motors, MCCs, VFDs, PLCs, sensors, control panels, and power distribution.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical faults to minimize downtime.
- Support continuous operation in cold, wet, and food-grade environments.
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise, train, and assign work to electrical technicians and electricians.
- Plan daily, weekly, and shutdown maintenance activities.
- Ensure proper manpower coverage for shifts, breakdowns, and emergencies.
- Coach technicians on safety practices, troubleshooting skills, and standard procedures.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules for electrical equipment.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, checklists, and reports.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce breakdowns and energy consumption.
Automation & Control Systems
- Support PLC, HMI, VFD, and industrial automation systems used in meat and poultry processing.
- Coordinate with automation engineers and OEMs during upgrades, modifications, and commissioning.
- Ensure backup and documentation of PLC programs and electrical drawings.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and plant safety rules.
- Maintain hygiene and food safety standards (HACCP, GMP) during maintenance activities.
- Ensure electrical installations comply with local regulations and company standards.
Spare Parts & Documentation
- Manage electrical spare parts inventory and ensure availability of critical components.
- Maintain up-to-date electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate with procurement for spare parts and external contractors when required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- +5 years of electrical maintenance experience in food processing, frozen food, meat, or poultry plants (or similar industrial environment).
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motors, PLCs, VFDs, and refrigeration-related electrical equipment.
- Experience working in cold storage and wet production environments preferred.
- Leadership or supervisory experience is required.
