Job Description

Engineering & Design Coordination

Ensure all engineering changes are communicated to the site team and incorporated into construction.

Coordinate vendor drawings, equipment dimensions, cable entry requirements, and installation details.

Raise RFIs, technical queries, and site change requests where required.

Identify design discrepancies, constructability issues, and site constraints.

Ensure construction is based on the latest approved drawings and revisions.

Review electrical IFC drawings, SLDs, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, layouts, and equipment foundation requirements.

Coordinate with the Electrical Engineering, Civil, Structural, and Mechanical teams.

Project Planning & Construction Management

Ensure construction activities are executed as per the approved method statements and project procedures.

Identify construction risks, delays, and constraints, and implement recovery plans.

Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly construction progress against the approved baseline schedule.

Plan and coordinate construction activities for the substation, including HV, MV, LV, protection, control, and auxiliary systems.

Prepare construction schedules, manpower plans, equipment requirements, and material forecasts.

Review project scope, contract requirements, specifications, and approved construction drawings.

Develop and implement the electrical construction execution plan.

Client, Consultant & Stakeholder Coordination

Coordinate with vendors and specialist subcontractors for equipment installation and technical support.

Obtain necessary inspections, approvals, and clearances for electrical activities.

Present electrical construction progress, key achievements, risks, and recovery actions.

Attend weekly progress meetings, technical meetings, and construction coordination meetings.

Coordinate with the client, consultant, PMC, utility authority, and main contractor.

Act as the primary electrical construction representative at site.

  • Quality Control & Inspection Review and ensure completion of punch lists and outstanding electrical works.

Ensure nonconformities (NCRs) are identified, corrected, and closed.

Verify proper equipment alignment, cable routing, termination, torqueing, labeling, and earthing.

Monitor installation quality, workmanship, and material compliance.

Ensure inspection requests (WIR/IR) are raised and approved before proceeding to subsequent activities.

Coordinate with QA/QC engineers to implement the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).

Ensure all electrical installations comply with approved drawings, project specifications, and applicable standards.

HSE – Health, Safety & Environment

Coordinate with the HSE team for incident prevention and reporting.

Stop unsafe work and take corrective action when required.

Ensure proper PPE, barricading, access control, and safe working clearances.

Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and regular site inspections.

Ensure safe work practices for HV equipment installation, cable works, lifting, and testing.

Enforce permit-to-work, LOTO (Lockout/Tagout), and isolation procedures.

Implement electrical safety procedures, risk assessments, and method statements.

Ensure all electrical construction activities are performed safely.

  • Material & Resource Management Identify material shortages and initiate timely procurement or recovery actions.

Ensure proper storage, preservation, and handling of electrical equipment and materials.

Monitor productivity and optimize workforce utilization.

Plan manpower requirements, including supervisors, electricians, technicians, and subcontractors.

Verify materials against approved material submittals and equipment schedules.

Coordinate with procurement, logistics, warehouse, and vendors.

Ensure timely availability of electrical materials and equipment at site.

  • Testing & Commissioning Coordination Support energization planning, switching procedures, and client handover requirements.

Ensure punch points and testing-related issues are resolved.

Coordinate relay testing, interlocking checks, functional checks, and SCADA signal verification.

Ensure test packs, inspection records, and calibration certificates are available.

Coordinate testing of transformers, switchgear, CTs, VTs, cables, batteries, earthing, and protection systems.

Ensure electrical installations are completed and ready for testing.

Coordinate with the Testing & Commissioning Manager for pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.

Progress Monitoring & Reporting

Implement corrective and preventive actions to achieve project milestones.

Escalate critical issues to project management.

Maintain progress dashboards, manpower reports, and productivity records.

Track Key Construction Milestones Such As

Equipment installation completion.

Cable laying and termination.

Earthing completion.

Panel installation.

Pre-commissioning readiness.

Energization readiness.

Monitor planned versus actual progress and identify delays.

Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly electrical construction reports.

  • Documentation & Handover Ensure the project meets client and authority requirements for final acceptance.

Support preparation of final handover dossiers and completion certificates.

Ensure electrical punch lists are closed before handover.

Coordinate operation and maintenance manuals, warranties, and vendor documents.

Ensure test reports, inspection records, material certificates, and equipment documentation are compiled.

Coordinate as-built drawings and redline markups.

Ensure construction records are properly maintained.
