We are seeking a skilled Electrical Design Engineer - (HV) with expertise in High Voltage Substation projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing detailed electrical designs, preparing technical documentation, and coordinating with clients, consultants, suppliers and authorities to ensure design compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and review HV electrical design drawings, single line diagrams (SLDs), and Layouts for substations, power distribution, and utility networks.
Perform Cable sizing, and voltage drop calculations using relevant software tools.
Design substation layouts, equipment selection, protection & control schemes, and earthing systems in accordance with project requirements.
Develop technical specifications, BOQs, and design reports for submission and approval.
Ensure designs comply with DEWA or other local authority standards.
Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and other discipline teams to ensure proper integration.
Review vendor drawings, material submittals, and support procurement with technical evaluations.
Participate in design review meetings, value engineering, and technical workshops.
Provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
Minimum 5–10 years of experience in electrical design with focus on High Voltage (11kV and above) systems.
Proven experience in substation design, utility interface, and power distribution.
Strong knowledge of IEC, IEEE, BS, and local authority standards (DEWA, ADDC, FEWA).
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Electrical design software.
Excellent communication, coordination, and report-writing skills.
Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
