Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to support the development of technical and commercial proposals for electrical and energy projects. The role focuses on proposal engineering, cost estimation, and supplier coordination for projects involving private network systems, MV/LV distribution, and HV/EHV transmission networks.
You will work closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure proposals are technically compliant, commercially competitive, and aligned with client and company standards.
This role offers strong exposure to tendering, commercial decision-making, and strategic energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Proposal Development
- Prepare comprehensive technical and commercial proposals in line with client requirements and tender specifications
- Review tender documents, scope of work (SOW), technical specifications, drawings, and BOQs to define project scope
- Develop proposal strategies, technical clarifications, assumptions, and deviation lists
- Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure proposals accurately reflect scope, design intent, and execution strategy
2. Communication & Negotiation
- Liaise professionally with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain quotations for materials, services, and specialized equipment
- Conduct negotiations to secure competitive pricing while ensuring technical compliance and quality standards
- Manage technical queries, clarifications, and follow-ups to ensure timely and accurate responses
3. Cost Estimation & Commercial Structuring
- Prepare detailed cost estimates covering materials, services, manpower, indirect costs, cash flow, and risk provisions
- Build pricing models and commercial breakdown structures
- Validate cost components to ensure accuracy, competitiveness, and alignment with market benchmarks
4. Supplier & Subcontractor Management
- Engage suppliers to ensure timely submission of quotations and technical documentation
- Evaluate supplier and subcontractor offers based on scope, pricing, technical compliance, and delivery capability
- Recommend preferred suppliers based on cost, quality, reliability, and project requirements
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain organized records of proposals, quotations, correspondence, and supporting technical documents
- Prepare technical compliance matrices, commercial summaries, and internal review documents
- Present completed proposals, cost analyses, and recommendations to management and project stakeholders
Experience, Skills & Abilities
- Hands-on experience preparing full technical and commercial proposals for electrical projects
- Strong technical knowledge of MV/LV distribution systems; exposure to HV/EHV transmission is preferred
- Solid experience in cost estimation, commercial analysis, and risk identification
- Strong negotiation skills and experience engaging suppliers and subcontractors
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and proposal preparation tools
- Excellent communication, coordination, and presentation skills
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of solving complex technical and commercial challenges
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight tender deadlines
Qualifications
