Job Description
As an Electrical Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the design development, technical coordination, and integration of electrical systems across multidisciplinary projects. The role focuses on producing and reviewing electrical designs, coordinating with BIM team and Technical Director, ensuring alignment with project requirements, local regulations, and standards. The Electrical Project Engineer supports the project lifecycle by managing design interfaces, resolving technical clashes, responding to RFIs, and assisting with design reviews, value engineering, and approvals to ensure efficient and compliant electrical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Coordination
- Fully design the electrical systems from client inception to detailed design (MV, LV switchgear, cabling, containment, lighting, earthing, lightning protection, fire alarm, BMS, etc.).
- Ensure all electrical design drawings and specifications comply with local regulations (SEC/DEWA/ADMCC/ADDC, etc.), relevant standards (BS, IEC, NFPA), and client requirements.
- Provide technical input to the BIM team during preparation of coordinated drawings and singleline diagrams for all electrical systems.
- Perform detailed technical review of existing design drawings and calculations.
- Raise and follow up on Requests for Information (RFIs) for any client/consultant clarifications required.
- Liaise with the technical director and present designs and coordinate changes arising from site conditions or MEP interfaces.
- Ensures engineering calculations and drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards
- Leads on the coordination of engineering services
- Takes a holistic view in the selection and application of engineering concepts and solutions
- Provide Value Engineering solutions
- Liase with estimation teams during tender phases of projects.
Experience & Qualifications
To excel in this role, you should possess the following experience and qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized university.
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience on construction projects (Data Centre or mission-critical experience highly preferred).
- Strong technical knowledge of LV/MV systems, containment, lighting control, fire alarm, BMS/EPMS, and standby power systems.
- Proficient in Amtech/ETAP, Dialux, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Revit.
- Familiar with Middle East regulations and authorities (SEC, DEWA, ADDC, Civil Defence, etc.) is a strong advantage.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
