Key Responsibilities:
Design Support and Documentation
- Prepare and review electrical design calculations, single-line diagrams (SLDs), cable schedules, odbs/loop drawings, switchgear arrangements, lighting and power distribution layouts, and electrical diagrams.
- Develop and maintain design standards, templates, and libraries (symbol libraries, equipment data sheets, Bill of Materials).
- Produce construction drawings, shop drawings, and as-built drawings in coordination with the project team.
- Create electrical technical specifications, material takeoffs, equipment data sheets (EDS), and procurement packages.
Engineering Calculations and Standards
- Perform protective relay coordination, short-circuit and voltage drop calculations, harmonic analysis, cable sizing, and conductor routing.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., IEC, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, local regulations) and project specifications.
- Review and approve electrical calculations, design criteria, and performance criteria.
- Technical Coordination
- Liaise with internal disciplines (Instrumentation & Control, Civil, Structural, Mechanical) and external stakeholders (client, vendors, contractors) to ensure integrated design.
- Provide clarifications and technical bids evaluations, participate in design reviews and value engineering sessions.
- Lead technical interfaces with vendors and EPC contractors for equipment, MCCs, switchgear, transformers, UPS, and fire alarm systems.
Construction Support
- Issue technical queries (TQs) and site assessments; review RFIs; provide field support during erection, testing, commissioning, and start-up.
- Review shop drawings, installation procedures, and testing plans; witness or supervise factory and site acceptance testing.
- Quality, Safety, and Compliance
- Ensure all deliverables meet project QA/QC procedures, manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), and maintain documentation traceability.
- Promote electrical safety best practices in all phases of the project.
Project Management and Documentation
- Plan and manage deliverables for electrical scope within project schedules; track progress and risk.
- Maintain document control, versioning, and archival of electrical drawings, manuals, and correspondence.
- Prepare progress reports, technical memos, and design narratives for client and internal reviews.
- Asset and Lifecycle Considerations
- Develop operation and maintenance manuals, spare parts lists, and commissioning procedures.
- Support lifecycle cost analyses and maintainability assessments.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Experience: 47 years of experience in electrical technical office engineering for construction projects.
- Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, ETAP, Dialux, SKM, ETAP, SKM Power Systems, PowerFactory).
- Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, emergency/backup power, lighting, and grounding/earthing systems.
- Understanding of protection coordination, earthing systems, cable sizing, conduit routing, and panel design.
- BIM Certification is a plus
