Core Responsibilities
- · Preventative Maintenance: Execute daily electrical inspections on JCO forming presses, milling machines, ID/OD SAW and pipe expanders to prevent unplanned downtime.
- PLC & Automation Support: Assist engineers in troubleshooting PLC-controlled systems (Siemens S7, Rockwell, or Mitsubishi). Identify faulty I/O modules, sensors, and limit switches.
- Motor & VFD Management: Install, configure, and repair AC/DC motors and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) used in heavy-duty conveyor systems and hydraulic pumps.
- Welding Machine Maintenance: Maintain specialized multi-wire SAW power sources (Lincoln/ESAB), ensuring stable current/voltage for high-quality longitudinal welds.
- Industrial Wiring: Perform cable laying, gladding, and termination for plant upgrades or machine relocations, adhering to international electrical codes.
- Emergency Breakdowns: Respond rapidly to electrical failures on the production line, focusing on MTTR (Mean Time To Repair) targets.
Technical Skill Set
- Schematic Literacy: Ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings, SLDs (Single Line Diagrams), and P&IDs.
- Diagnostic Tools: Proficiency in using multi-meters, clamp meters, insulation testers (Megger), and basic oscilloscope functions.
- HV/LV Knowledge: Familiarity with HT/LT switchgear, transformers, and distribution panels.
- Sensor Technology: Expertise in calibrating and replacing proximity sensors, encoders, laser trackers, and pressure transducers.
Key Qualifications
- Education: ITI (Electrician) or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: 3–8 years of experience in a heavy engineering industry, preferably in an LSAW, HSAW, or Steel Mill environment.
- Safety Certification: Expert knowledge of LOTO (Lock-Out Tag-Out) and Arc Flash safety protocols.
- Industry Background: Candidates from similar Industries are preferred for their exposure to high-tonnage production environments.
Preferred Attributes
- For roles in the Middle East, familiarity with Electrical Standards is a major advantage.
- Quality Focused: Understanding that electrical fluctuations can lead to weld defects (porosity) and pipe rejections.
- Shift Flexibility: Readiness to work in a 24/7 rotational shift pattern.
Employer-Specific Context
- Strict adherence to Work Permit System for all electrical interventions.
- Experience with digital maintenance logs using tablets or SAP PM mobile apps.
- Focus on rapid troubleshooting to maintain aggressive daily tonnage targets.
