About the JobRole Description
An Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems, wiring, equipment, and fixtures in residential, commercial, industrial, and construction environments. The role ensures that electrical installations operate safely, reliably, and in accordance with applicable safety standards and company procedures.
The position is suitable for candidates with electrical trade experience, technical training, or practical hands-on skills. Previous experience in electrical installation or maintenance is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, systems, fixtures, and equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, diagrams, layouts, and technical specifications.
- Install electrical cables, conduits, switches, sockets, lighting fixtures, and distribution boards.
- Perform electrical connections, terminations, and basic circuit installations.
- Inspect electrical systems to identify faults, damaged components, loose connections, and safety risks.
- Troubleshoot electrical problems using appropriate testing tools and equipment.
- Test voltage, current, continuity, resistance, and other electrical parameters.
- Replace damaged wires, switches, breakers, sockets, lighting components, and other electrical parts.
- Assist with installation and maintenance of electrical panels and distribution systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment and systems.
- Ensure electrical installations comply with safety requirements and applicable regulations.
- Maintain electrical tools, testing equipment, and work areas in safe operating condition.
- Record maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and equipment issues.
- Report major electrical faults, hazards, equipment failures, and safety concerns to supervisors.
- Coordinate with technicians, engineers, contractors, and other site personnel when required.
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures and other electrical safety practices.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment and follow workplace health and safety procedures.
- Support electrical installation and maintenance work during construction, renovation, or facility maintenance projects.
- Perform other electrical duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma, technical diploma, or recognized electrical trade qualification.
- Previous experience as an electrician or electrical technician is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, circuits, and safety procedures.
- Ability to read basic electrical drawings and diagrams.
- Familiarity with electrical testing tools and hand tools.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically fit and comfortable working in different environments, including construction sites.
- Ability to work at heights or in confined areas when required.
- Valid UAE driving licence is an advantage but may not be mandatory depending on the position.
