About the role:
Zutari is seeking an experienced Electromechanical Engineer to support the delivery of a major infrastructure projects in Dubai. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, design coordination, technical review, site support, and assurance of electromechanical systems across transport and infrastructure assets.
The role requires strong multidisciplinary coordination skills and practical experience in delivering safe, reliable, maintainable, and energy-efficient mechanical and electrical systems within complex transport environments. The engineer will work closely with civil, structural, architectural, rail/transport systems, BIM, and project management teams, as well as client representatives, contractors, and specialist suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Review contractor submissions, including technical documents and compliance-related deliverables.
- Provide the necessary site instructions, technical guidance, and engineering support during construction.
- Review subcontractor prequalification submissions and make recommendations for client approval.
- Review contractor material submittals and recommend approval to the client.
- Review contractor shop drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements, design intent, and authority regulations.
- Supervise site inspection staff and ensure effective monitoring of construction activities.
- Verify that the works executed on site comply with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Check and verify the measurement of work completed.
- Monitor and observe site safety practices and report concerns where necessary.
- Report technical and construction matters to the Resident Engineer as required.
- Record, monitor, and display progress against the baseline programme.
- Prepare regular progress reports and update project stakeholders accordingly.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of as-built drawings.
- Ensure the correctness and completeness of contract closeout documentation.
- Participate in contract administration activities as required.
- Ensure completion of all internal tests and maintain readiness for witness testing.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver the design of infrastructure-related electromechanical systems, including LV networks, street lighting, traffic signals, digital signboards, tunnel lighting, and telecommunications networks.
- Prepare and develop design drawings, technical reports, calculations, specifications, and other engineering documents for HV, MV, and LV systems and associated infrastructure works.
- Collect, review, and consolidate as-built information from relevant departments and authorities through Information NOC processes.
Essential
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7–10 years relevant experience in electromechanical/MEP engineering for major infrastructure, transportation, rail, metro, road, tunnel, station, depot, or building-services projects.
- Demonstrable experience working on projects in the UAE or wider Middle East, ideally involving RTA, metro, rail, aviation, or public-sector infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building-services systems and their interfaces within transport assets.
- Experience in design review, construction support, contractor coordination, testing, commissioning, and project handover.
- Familiarity with applicable UAE and Dubai authority requirements, as well as international standards such as IEC, IEEE, NFPA, BS/EN, ASHRAE, CIBSE, and relevant ISO standards.
- Proficiency in reviewing engineering drawings and models using relevant tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360/ACC, and common document-management platforms.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Preferred
- Professional registration or chartership, such as CEng, PE, or equivalent recognised professional accreditation.
- Experience with RTA design standards, approval processes, and stakeholder interfaces.
- Experience in fire and life-safety systems, tunnel ventilation, pumping systems, power distribution, lighting, emergency power, ELV systems, or rail/transport facilities.
- Knowledge of ISO 19650 information-management principles and coordinated BIM delivery.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary design consultancy environments.
- Arabic language capability is advantageous but not essential.
