Job SummaryThe ELV Draftsman is responsible for preparing accurate and coordinated technical drawings for Extra-Low Voltage (ELV) systems across various project phases, including tender, shop, construction, and as-built stages. The role supports ELV engineers and site teams by producing high-quality drawings, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, and coordinating with other disciplines to deliver construction-ready documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare Tender drawings, shop drawings, layout drawings, and as-built drawings for ELV systems.
- Develop drawings for systems including but not limited to:
- Fire Alarm System (FAS)
- CCTV System
- Access Control System (ACS)
- Public Address & Voice Evacuation (PA/VE)
- Structured Cabling (Data & Telephone)
- SMATV / IPTV
- Intercom System
- BMS / GRMS (where applicable)
- Audio Visual systems.
- Produce HLD, LLD, SLD, Riser diagram, schematic diagram and typical details as per project requirements.
- Coordinate ELV drawings with architectural, electrical, HVAC, and other trades to avoid clashes.
- Prepare cable routing, containment layouts, device locations, and mounting details.
- Prepare the voltage drop calculations as per standards and regulations.
- Update drawings based on consultant comments, site conditions, and RFIs.
- Assist engineers in preparing BOQs, material take-offs, and technical submittals.
- Ensure drawings comply with local codes, international standards, and project specifications.
- Maintain proper drawing logs, revisions, and document control.
- Support site teams by issuing construction-ready drawings.
Software & Tools:
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit is an advantage).
- MS Office (basic)
- Visio for block diagrams
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma or Technical Degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering or related field.
- 35 years of experience as an ELV or Low Current Draftsman.
- Strong knowledge of ELV systems design, coordination and site installation practices.
- Ability to read and interpret specifications, schematics, and standards.
- Familiar with NFPA, BS, IEC, and local authority requirements.
