Job Description
As an Engineer/Core Network Maintenance expert, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the reliability and performance of our fixed network in Zone 3. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of tasks, from managing traffic provisions and cessations to promptly resolving network failures. Additionally, you will oversee hardware inventory, repairs, and returns, ensuring our network's efficiency and reliability. Your work will directly impact the smooth operation of our network, contributing to the overall success of our telecommunications services.
Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize traffic flow, including provisions, cessations, and re-routing, to ensure network performance and efficiency.
- Identify and troubleshoot network failures caused by traffic or hardware issues, implementing prompt resolutions.
- Plan and execute network outages with minimal impact on operations, ensuring a smooth and controlled process.
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date record of network hardware assets, including their locations and specifications.
- Oversee the repair and return process for network hardware, ensuring timely turnaround and efficient maintenance.
- Collaborate with the operations team to develop and implement effective maintenance plans, optimizing network reliability.
- Monitor network performance, identify potential bottlenecks, and propose improvements to enhance overall efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and growth.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in network maintenance, continuously updating your skills and knowledge.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering Telecommunications/ Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- In-depth knowledge of network protocols, routing, and switching technologies, with a practical understanding of their application.
- Hands-on experience with network hardware, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, enabling efficient issue resolution and innovative thinking.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for clear and effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools and software, utilizing them to track and optimize network performance.
- Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new network maintenance methodologies, staying updated with industry advancements.
- Valid driving license is preferred but not mandatory, as some travel to remote sites may be required.
