Job Summary:
The Design Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and refining product designs to ensure manufacturability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The role involves ensuring that designs align with production capabilities, quality standards, technical specifications, and client requirements while supporting continuous improvement and successful product delivery.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Create detailed engineering designs, drawings, and specifications suitable for the process
- Collaborate with production, quality, and procurement teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective
- Perform design calculations, simulations, and prototype testing to validate concepts
- Optimize existing product designs to improve manufacturability, reduce costs, and enhance performance
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company guidelines
- Prepare technical documentation, including bills of materials, assembly instructions, and maintenance manuals
- Participate in design reviews, production trials, and problem-solving initiatives
- Suggest process improvements and innovative design solutions to enhance efficiency
- Liaise with clients and project teams to understand requirements and implement design changes as needed
- Stay updated with manufacturing technologies, design software, and industry best practices
QHSE Responsibilities:
- Comply with all QHSE standards, policies, and procedures relevant to your work
- Actively participate in QHSE meetings and complete all required safety inductions and trainings
- Identify and report unsafe conditions; take corrective action where possible within your scope
- Follow guidance provided by QHSE officers and use PPE and emergency equipment correctly
- Support a safe work environment by cooperating with safety practices and encouraging others to do the same
- Refer to the OHSMS Manual, Section 4.4.1, for further clarification on individual QHSE responsibilities and accountability
Requirements
Education
- Graduate or Diploma in Engineering, preferably in Electrical, Instrumentation, Electronics, or a related field

Skills
- Strong knowledge of LV switchgear products and applications
- Sound understanding of implementing complex control and protection logic in LV switchboards
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or EPLAN for preparing and reviewing GA drawings, SLDs, and electrical schematics
Experience:
- 7-8 years of experience in designing complex LV switchboards, including IMCS and communication systems using the latest digital numerical protection relays
- Experience working on Oil & Gas projects will be an added advantage
- Experience with Eaton products will be preferred
