Engineer II (Combustion) - Grade 8
Role Purpose: Join our dynamic team at Halcon Systems as a
Engineer II (Combustion), where you'll be pivotal in shaping the future of propulsion technology. Reporting to the Principal Engineer of Air Propulsion, you'll be responsible for advancing our combustion work group and supporting the development and design of cutting-edge air-breathing engine systems.
Key Accountabilities:
- Drive innovation in combustion technologies for gas turbine propulsion systems.
- Leverage your expertise in experimental, theoretical, and engineering practices to develop and validate combustion technologies.
- Engage in conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases, contributing to design processes and numerical simulations.
- Define and manage technology development roadmaps, ensuring accountability for advanced projects.
- Oversee rig and engine tests at various conditions, analyze results, and present findings.
- Validate numerical analyses with experimental data.
- Collaborate on the development of test rigs and combustor testing facilities.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers through coaching and technical guidance.
- Contribute to publications and conferences, expanding your network in the gas turbine propulsion domain.
Experience / Knowledge / Qualification:
- Master's degree in Engineering or a related field; Ph.D. preferred, with a focus on gas turbine combustion or thermal power applications.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in gas turbine combustion, with a solid understanding of combustion physics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, fuels, and emissions.
- Hands-on experience with combustion experiments, theoretical analysis (CFD and chemical kinetics), and lab testing environments.
- Proficiency in measurement techniques (e.g., laser diagnostics), instrumentation (e.g., DAQ), and programming (e.g., LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python).
- Proven competence in managing multidisciplinary requirements within gas turbine combustion and fuel systems.
- Strong technical knowledge of air power systems, including aircraft integration and mission systems.
- Familiarity with military and defense industry standards and regulations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a track record of delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
