Role Summary
Engineer, OT Cybersecurity provides technical support, administration, and maintenance necessary for OT Cybersecurity Services for Company's Operational Technology (OT) and OT-IT integration.
Engineer, OT cybersecurity will play a key role operating and maintaining cybersecurity infrastructure and OT Cybersecurity controls based on the approved company's OT Cybersecurity Policies, Standards, processes, procedures and guidelines.
The objective is to ensure the availability, integrity, and secure operations of company's Operation Technology/Industrial Automation & Control Systems and mission-critical systems from emerging cybersecurity threats by focusing on three job-specific accountabilities:
Operate and Maintain (OM)
- Provide support, administration, and maintenance to ensure OT/ICS cybersecurity systems are effective and available.
- Manage assets and inventories of cybersecurity resources and infrastructure.
- Administer and configure defence tools (antivirus, whitelisting, firewalls, IDS/IPS, Data Diodes, secure file transfer, monitoring).
- Manage accounts, access rights, and permissions.
- Maintain and apply baseline security configurations in line with company policies.
- Patch vulnerabilities, update security content, and monitor system performance and integrity.
- Conduct periodic maintenance (health checks, configuration and access reviews, effectiveness testing).
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents, problems, and connectivity issues per SLA.
- Maintain documentation of implementations, procedures, and maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with custodians to sustain cybersecurity solutions and recommend improvements.
Protect and Defend (PR)
- Identify, analyse, and mitigate threats to OT systems and networks.
- Use defence tools (IDS, firewalls, traffic logs, SIEM alerts) to detect and report events.
- Implement security measures to resolve vulnerabilities, mitigate risks, and ensure resilience.
- Analyse network topologies to understand data flows and interfaces.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve incidents and ensure compliance.
- Collect and monitor security data from OT systems for ongoing threat detection.
- Track external threat intelligence sources to stay current on risks.
- Apply signatures/IOCs to defence tools in response to new or observed threats.
Securely Provision (SP)
- Support OT/ICS project lifecycles by defining cybersecurity requirements across design and testing phases (DGS, FEED, FDS, DDS, FAT, SAT, SIT).
- Ensure stakeholder security requirements are addressed in architecture and system design.
- Design and implement security controls to ensure safety, availability, confidentiality, and integrity.
- Act as technical lead for implementing and assessing OT cybersecurity solutions.
- Review technical specifications and technology selections for compatibility with the cybersecurity ecosystem and roadmap.
Other Duties:
- Act as technical advisor on OT/ICS cybersecurity matters with HSE, risk, emergency response, and operations teams.
- Contribute to studies and research on emerging technologies, products, and thirdparty services.
- Develop and update OT cybersecurity documentation (policies, standards, baselines, guidelines, procedures).
- Support risk assessments, gap analyses, and audit activities in OT/ICS environments.
- Facilitate OT security incident response with the cybersecurity incident response team.
- Mentor and guide junior and emerging OT cybersecurity engineers.
Supervision:
- Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
- Train and develop the assigned staff in relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective business objectives.
Budgets:
- Provide input for preparation of the Function / Division / Department / Section budgets, assist in the implementation of the approved Budget, and work plans to deliver business objectives.
- Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures:
- Implement approved Function / Division / Department / Section OT Cybersecurity policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures to support execution of the work programs in line with Company and International standards.
- Comply with all applicable legislation and legal regulations.
Performance Management:
- Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Function / Division / Department / Section in line with the Company Performance framework.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
- Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with best industry standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.
Health, Safety, Environment (HSE)and Sustainability:
- Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and the company Code of Practices.
Reports:
- Daily report to indirect line manager at the site.
- Weekly Time Sheet, Service Provider Management System.
- Preventive Maintenance activities and report for OT Cybersecurity Services in the company, SAP, as per the schedule in the Monthly and Quarterly.
- Set Annual Objectives and Goals with direct and indirect line managers with monthly and quarterly progress reports.
Communications & Working Relationships:
Internal
- Regular interaction with Field's Maintenance (I-C) teams for day-to-day operations.
- Regular interaction with Technical Support/Maintenance teams handling OT/ICSsecurity maintenance and upgrade.
- Regular communication with Central engineering and Project management teams handling OT/ICS security-related projects for green and brown fields.
- On-needed basis communication with OT/IT integrated applications custodians.

- Frequent contact with automation vendors, system integrators, cybersecurity solutions providers/suppliers and contractors professional & staff for exchange of information, technical clarifications and resolving problems.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (IT), Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience, Knowledge& Skills:
Experience: 57 years in IT Security, including at least 3 years administering and engineering OT/ICS systems security. Alternatively, equivalent experience in OT process automation within Oil & Gas, with 3+ years in OT/ICS cybersecurity.
Industrial Exposure: Handson with Industrial Control Systems, SCADA/DCS (Yokogawa), and related cybersecurity technologies in the energy sector.
Technical Expertise:
- Troubleshooting industrial automation and communication systems.
- Risk management and service management (ITIL).
- Networking concepts, protocols, and security methodologies.
- Network security architecture (defenseindepth, DMZs, segmentation).
- OT systems (DCS, SCADA, PLC, instruments) hardware.
- Industrial network topologies, redundancy protocols, and wireless technologies (FTE, ISA100, Wireless HART).
- Industrial application protocols (OPC, Modbus, PROFINet, Vnet/IP, Ethernet/IP, DNP3, Fieldbus).
- System administration, OS, network, and virtualisation hardening.
- Cybersecurity attack types and stages targeting OT/ICS.
Skills:
- Assessing security controls (IEC62443, CIS CSC, NIST SP 80053).
- Configuring firewalls, IDS/IPS, Data Diodes, and other network protection tools.
- Using host firewalls, antivirus, and application whitelisting.
- Conducting maintenance of OT/ICS cybersecurity systems and infrastructure.
- Anticipating and resolving system/server performance, availability, and capacity issues.
Preferred Qualifications:
Mandatory professional certification:
- Global Industrial CyberSecurity Professional (GICSP)
- ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Fundamentals Specialist
- Cisco Certified Network Associate(CCNA)
- Cisco Certified Specialist Cybersecurity Core
Holding the following certifications would be a plus:
- Vendor-neutral Cyber Security Professional Certifications such as: CISSP, GCWN,GCIA, GDSA
- IT certifications in ITIL/ITSM, CCNA R&S, Virtualisation Computing & Storage.
- OT certifications from Automation Vendors technologies in DCS, SCADA, PLC Programming, and Instrumentation.
Technology Specific Competencies:
Ability to install, configure, update, upgrade and troubleshoot CyberSecurity technologies:
- Data Diode / Uni-Directional Network Solutions: OWL CyberDefense.
- Cisco: SecureFirewall Threat Defence(FTD), Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center (FMC)
- Trellix: Endpoint Security(ENS), Application and Change Control,ePolicy Orchestrator
Yokogawa's DCS, Industrial Control Systems and Network experience and knowledge are preferred.
