JOB PURPOSE:
Improves, develops, and implements control strategies that improve plant safety, profitability, efficiency, and operability.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Performs the activities, may include but not limited to:
- Engages in plant Process Safety Management (PSM) by participating in the Management of Change process, including hazard reviews, participating in larger HAZOP ((Hazards and Operability Study) and LOPA (Layer of Protection Analysis) studies, action item follow-up, and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews.
- Evaluates new process schemes and designs concerning merit and feasibility.
- Responsible for troubleshooting issues with control systems and resolution implementation and support.
- Responsible for monitoring the control systems and supporting applications and executing preventative maintenance to maintain the systems at optimal operation.
- Supports Alarm Documentation and Rationalization (AOA) activities.
- Recognizes opportunities for improvement on the plant process control strategies.
- Supports implementation and management of Advanced Process Control applications.
- Responsible for implementing control system changes for managed changes and small projects.
- Provides support for Safety Instrumented System and instrumented independent protection layer lifecycle management, including proof testing.
- Creates instructions and provides training for Operations, I&E Maintenance and Technical personnel on control subjects as needed.
- Provides control engineering support for both planned and unplanned shutdowns and unit turnarounds.
- Supports site in control system off-hour call-out duties as needed.
- Responsible for instrumentation device, sizing & selection of control valve and measurement devices.
- Responsible for control loop performance and tuning including sensors, controllers, and final elements troubleshooting.
- Preform daily support activities to operation including review the bypass permits, install permits where applicable and participate on the issue's investigation.
- Strictly follows established environmental, health, safety and quality policies and procedures in order to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/services and a responsible environmental attitude.
- Undertakes accountabilities in the operational excellence process as set out in the schedule of responsibilities.
- Contributes to the processes of continuous improvement for the area assigned.
- Performs any other relevant task as directed by Lead Process Control.
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Academic background includes a minimum of bachelor's degree in engineering degree.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in related field.
