Job Summary
The Substation Installation Engineer is responsible for executing and supervising installation, testing, and commissioning activities for high-voltage substations (HV/EHV). The role involves managing site activities, ensuring compliance with technical standards, and coordinating with project teams to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Commissioning
- Supervise installation of substation equipment including transformers, GIS/AIS switchgear, circuit breakers, and control panels
- Execute testing and commissioning activities for HV/EHV substations (110kV–380kV)
- Ensure proper installation practices, alignment, and adherence to project specifications
- Support energization and handover activities
Protection & Control Systems
- Oversee installation, testing, and maintenance of relay protection systems, SCADA, and control equipment
- Ensure correct implementation of protection schemes to safeguard transformers, circuit breakers, and associated equipment
- Troubleshoot faults and coordinate corrective actions to maintain system reliability
Operations & Maintenance
- Supervise preventive and corrective maintenance activities for substations
- Review technical drawings, schematics, and documentation for accuracy and compliance
- Coordinate commissioning readiness and ensure systems are fully operational before handover
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce strict adherence to HSE standards and company safety policies
- Ensure compliance with SEC, IEC, and international standards
- Maintain proper documentation, reporting systems, and audit records
Skills & Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Experience
- Minimum 8–15 years of experience in HV/EHV substation projects
- Hands-on experience in installation, testing, and commissioning of substations (110kV–380kV)
Technical Expertise
- Strong knowledge of:
- GIS/AIS switchgear

- Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and schematics
