The Role

As an Engineering and Maintenance Manager, you will oversee the efficient operation of all facilities, equipment, and systems within the property. You will ensure that all engineering and maintenance activities meet safety, quality, and performance standards. Your role will involve leading the engineering team, coordinating maintenance activities, and ensuring that all systems, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing, are maintained and function optimally to enhance the guest experience and operational efficiency.

Key Areas of Responsibilities

Please note that the responsibilities outlined below are not exhaustive. Red Sea Global Hospitality employees continuously innovate in caring for the needs of the business, their guests, and their colleagues. As an Engineering and Maintenance Manager, you will need to:

  • Oversee and manage the engineering team, providing leadership, training, and guidance to ensure high standards of performance.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and preventive maintenance programs for all hotel systems and equipment.
  • Ensure the proper operation and maintenance of all HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire safety, and building management systems.
  • Monitor and maintain the overall safety and quality of the building infrastructure, including structural integrity, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, elevators, water systems, and other key infrastructure.
  • Establish and maintain a system for the proper and timely completion of maintenance requests, ensuring minimal disruption to guest experience.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure the proper functioning of systems and equipment required for operations (e.g., kitchen, guest rooms, conference rooms, and public areas).
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations, maintaining a high level of operational safety and cleanliness.
  • Oversee and manage the energy and sustainability programs, helping to identify opportunities for energy conservation and cost savings.
  • Ensure that emergency procedures, including fire and safety drills, are conducted regularly, and that all team members are well-trained in safety protocols.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance schedules, equipment repairs, inspections, and safety reports.
  • Manage the engineering budget, ensuring cost-effective and efficient operations while maintaining high standards of service and equipment.
  • Source and manage external contractors and vendors for specialized services and repairs as needed.
  • Ensure all maintenance tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored in accordance with health and safety standards.
  • Handle guest complaints and maintenance issues promptly, ensuring that any disturbances are resolved quickly and effectively.
  • Monitor inventory levels for engineering supplies, ordering materials as required.
  • Ensure that all areas are maintained to the highest standard, in line with the company’s values and brand guidelines.
  • Perform regular inspections of property equipment and systems, ensuring that all issues are reported and addressed promptly.
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with all departments to support operational success.
  • Perform any other duties required to ensure the smooth operation of the property.
