Engineering Manager
Location: Dubai, UAE
My client, a fast-growing trading company, is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead backend engineering teams building high-performance, low-latency trading systems.
The Role
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of backend engineers working on mission-critical trading platforms
- Own technical delivery, architecture decisions, and engineering standards
- Partner closely with Product, Quant, and Trading teams to deliver scalable and reliable systems
- Balance hands-on technical leadership with people management and execution
- Drive best practices around system design, performance, security, and resilience
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or Technical Lead in a high-scale environment
- Strong background in Scala and Java, ideally within trading, fintech, or low-latency systems
- Experience designing and operating distributed, event-driven systems
- Solid understanding of concurrency, performance optimisation, and fault-tolerant architectures
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-ownership environments
Nice to Have
- Experience in trading platforms, market data, or financial systems
- Exposure to cloud infrastructure and modern DevOps practices
- Background in mentoring senior engineers and building high-performing teams
