Engineering Manager - Solar Projects

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced engineering manager to join our team. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in the solar field core.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end design management for solar projects—from feasibility studies to commissioning.

• Review project proposals and cost control measures and optimize energy yield through design optimization.

• Responsible for conceptual and detailed engineering for solar PV systems (ground-mounted, rooftop, hybrid).

• Ensure optimal system performance through shading analysis, tilt optimization, and inverter/load balancing.

• Strong grasp of electrical engineering principles and load calculations.

• Review the single-line diagrams, layout drawings, and electrical schematics for approvals.

• Develop engineering standards, templates, and workflows for consistent project delivery.

• Collaborate with business development and finance teams to assess technical feasibility and ROI. • Drive innovation in system design, storage integration, and performance optimization.

• Proficiency with MS Project, Primavera.

• Knowledge of SCADA systems & energy management systems—Solar Log, Meteo control, etc.

• Stay updated with the latest advancements in solar technology and industry best practices

• Managed cross-functional teams across multiple geographies across MENA, India, and Southeast Asia.

• Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams (civil, electrical, structural).

• Interface with clients, EPC contractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies.

• Monitor KPIs like energy output, system uptime, and cost per watt.

• Resolve technical bottlenecks and ensure timely delivery.

• Reduced LCOE (Levelized Cost of Energy) through design optimization.

• Experience with IPP models and open access schemes.

• Experience with energy storage systems and hybrid solar installations

• Validate energy yield simulations using tools like PV Syst. and Helioscope and ensure compliance with NEC, IEC, and local grid codes

• Ensure grid compliance and interconnection standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, DEWA regulations).

Career Milestones

• Engineered and commissioned at least 300+ MWp of solar PV projects.

• Reduced LCOE (Levelized Cost of Energy) by 18% through design optimization.

• Led cross-border teams across MENA, India, and Southeast Asia.

• Familiarity with DEWA, ADWEA, and MASDAR standards.

• Experience with IPP models and open access schemes.

• Knowledge of desert climate engineering challenges (e.g., dust mitigation, thermal losses). Qualifications

• Bachelor's/master's in electrical, mechanical, or renewable energy engineering.

• Certifications: NABCEP PV Installation Professional, PMP, OSHA, DEWA-approved engineer (for UAE).

• Languages: English (fluent), Arabic (preferred in GCC), and technical writing proficiency.
