About the Role

As an Engineering Manager, you will define and enhance the technology architecture and engineering of the PC solutions. You will be responsible for retaining and building a strong engineering team to deliver strategic initiatives for specific products.

In this role, you will recommend and build alternative solutions to business challenges, streamline processes, and create a competitive advantage. You will prioritize efforts based on expected business benefits and drive effective execution to ensure investments produce tangible outcomes.

You will collaborate closely with the Engineering Director, PC Solutions Engineering Leads, Product Owners, Technology Platform leads, and Operations team members. Additionally, you will mentor junior team members and communicate ideas to leadership teams and boards.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and enhance the architecture and engineering of PC Solutions.
• Lead and manage the engineering teams responsible for delivering strategic initiatives for specific products.
• Build and recommend alternative solutions to business challenges.
• Prioritize efforts based on business needs and drive effective execution to achieve tangible outcomes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering Directors, Product Owners, and Technology Platform leads.
• Mentor and coach junior engineering team members.
• Share knowledge across teams and align best practices across Reinsurance.
• Communicate technical vision, roadmaps, and deliverables to leadership teams and boards.
• Ensure engineering efforts align with business objectives.

About the Team

The PC Solutions Engineering team is a global team responsible for the technical architecture and engineering for the PC Solutions business unit. The team members are passionate about technology and deeply understand the reinsurance business. They collaborate closely with other teams and colleagues globally to share knowledge and engineer solutions.

As you grow within this role, you will gain a broad view of the architecture and engineering of a global reinsurer. This will help you build a strong engineering team in Hyderabad and become a key technology leader at Swiss Re.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have:

• Over 15 years of experience in software engineering with strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and architecture patterns, including exposure to the insurance domain.
• At least 10 years of experience in Java or .Net core and related technologies in large enterprise systems.
• Experience leading teams in cross-functional environments and within complex contexts.
• Hands-on engineering experience with a strong technical background, particularly in cloud-native applications (Microsoft Azure).
• Experience delivering IT projects, including working with state-of-the-art technology and contributing to technical research (e.g., GenAI capabilities).
• Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in agile practices with collaborative skills across cultures, geographies, and organizational levels.
• Commitment to continuous learning and self-improvement.
• Strong communication and presentation skills in English.
• A focus on outcomes with a commitment to quality and timely customer service.
• Ability to manage ambiguity and step outside your comfort zone.
• Understanding of the insurance/reinsurance business is a plus.
• Expertise in security vulnerabilities and the ability to remediate them within agreed SLAs.
• Ability to manage ITSM Level 3+ applications hosted as SaaS.

Educational Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in any discipline.
• Postgraduate degree is a plus.
