Job Description

Job Title: Engineering Specialist – Mechanical (Static & Rotating Equipment)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Specialist – Mechanical (Static & Rotating Equipment) to provide technical leadership in the design, construction, commissioning, and ongoing support of gas processing facilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, integrity, and performance of static and rotating equipment while supporting capital projects, maintenance activities, and operational excellence

e.This position requires extensive experience in oil and gas facilities, strong technical expertise in mechanical engineering, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical support for operations and maintenance by troubleshooting static and rotating equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Develop engineering design packages for new installations, modifications, and facility upgrade projects.
  • Review engineering studies, project proposals, and detailed design packages to ensure technical compliance and quality.
  • Participate in equipment testing, commissioning, start-up, and Turnaround & Inspection (T&I) activities.
  • Maintain and update engineering documentation, technical drawings, PFDs, P&IDs, isometric drawings, and related design documents.
  • Evaluate system performance and identify opportunities for energy efficiency and operational optimization.
  • Recommend technical and economic improvements to enhance facility reliability and performance.
  • Support the evaluation, testing, and implementation of new technologies and engineering solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE requirements, engineering standards, and applicable industry codes.
  • Monitor and analyse equipment performance indicators and prepare technical reports.
  • Lead technical studies, feasibility assessments, and engineering evaluations for new and existing facilities.
  • Contribute to asset integrity, reliability improvement, and business strategy initiatives.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Collaborate with project, operations, maintenance, inspection, and reliability teams to achieve project objectives.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Master's degree is considered an advantage.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) certification is preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in oil and gas or industrial processing facilities.
  • Experience in gas processing or shale gas facilities is highly desirable.
  • Experience with modular skid-mounted process units is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles related to static and rotating equipment.
  • Experience in the design, specification, selection, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of pressure vessels, separators, heat exchangers, storage tanks, reactors, fired heaters, boilers, and related equipment.
  • Working knowledge of industry standards and codes including ASME and API standards.
  • Experience using engineering software such as CAESAR II, HTRI, or equivalent.
  • Experience with piping systems, equipment layouts, piping specifications, and field installation activities.
  • Strong understanding of equipment integrity, damage mechanisms, inspection methodologies, and fitness-for-service assessments.
  • Experience developing and reviewing PFDs, P&IDs, piping layouts, and isometric drawings.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and technical reporting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage technical priorities independently while supporting complex engineering projects.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
