Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid position for an English - Arabic Reviser, based in Maadi with flexibility for some work-from-home arrangements. The role involves revising and editing English-to-Arabic or Arabic-to-English translations to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to client specifications. Additionally, the Reviser will provide constructive feedback to translators, communicate with clients to clarify requirements, and support quality assurance processes for language services delivered by the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Revise and edit translations between English and Arabic for accuracy, clarity, and consistency of terminology and style.
- Review subtitles and on-screen text, checking timing, line breaks, character limits, and compliance with project-specific style guides.
- Ensure that translated content reflects the tone, intent, and context of the original message while remaining culturally appropriate.
- Perform final quality assurance (QA) on deliverables before delivery to clients or publication.
- Provide constructive feedback to translators and subtitlers to improve overall team quality and consistency.
- Maintain and update terminology databases, translation memories, and glossaries for ongoing projects.
- Liaise with project managers, translators, and other stakeholders to clarify ambiguities, resolve terminology issues, and align on expectations.
- Adapt and optimize content for different formats (subtitles, web content, marketing material, training material, scripts, etc.).
- Ensure adherence to client guidelines, industry standards, and internal quality procedures.
- Support the development and refinement of Arabic style guides and best practices for translation and subtitling.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Translation, Linguistics, Arabic Language, English, or a related field.
- Native-level command of Arabic and excellent command of English (both written and spoken).
- 5+ years of proven professional experience as a reviser, reviewer, or senior translator (EnglishArabic).
- Strong knowledge of Modern Standard Arabic and familiarity with major regional dialects when relevant.
- Excellent grasp of grammar, syntax, punctuation, and stylistic nuances in both languages.
- Experience with translation and subtitling workflows, including working with time-coded materials.
Required Skills
- Familiarity with CAT tools (e.g., memoQ, Trados, Wordfast) and subtitling software (e.g., Subtitle Edit, EZTitles, Aegisub).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to spot linguistic, factual, and formatting errors quickly.
- Ability to work with different tone-of-voice requirements (formal, neutral, marketing, technical, etc.).
- Good understanding of localization issues and cultural adaptation for Arabic-speaking markets.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
