Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Environmental and Sustainability (E&S) Manager to lead our organization's efforts in promoting environmental sustainability. The E&S Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to reduce environmental impacts across operations, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role involves managing sustainability initiatives, conducting environmental audits, preparing reports, and collaborating with internal teams to integrate sustainable practices into business processes. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of environmental regulations, sustainability trends, and the ability to drive change within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing expert assessment and advisory services for the clients on matters pertaining to the management of environmental issues.
- Evaluating current environmental policy, develop management systems and processes.
- Implementing and managing the overall environmental compliance efforts to maintain compliance with the plans, permits, regulations, etc. applicable to the project.
- Assuring the integration of ESMS procedures and requirements in the planning, construction, and operation phases of the project.
- Ensuring that appropriate environmental and social services are available in a timely manner for carrying out any project activity in compliance with L&T procedures and policies, IFC's performance standards.
- Overseeing the operation of the Stakeholder Management Plan and designing and implementing associated stakeholder engagement initiatives.
- Overseeing the operation of the project grievance mechanism and managing both for community and employee grievances and complaints.
- Overseeing stakeholder and community consultations in relation to project aspects.
- Ensuring that subcontractors carry out their work in accordance with L&T's ESMS and policy, guidelines and procedures, technical specifications, gender policy, and health and safety policy.
- Providing environmental awareness training to project manpower.
- Developing and Implementing the Environmental Management Plans, including conducting all required inspections, providing recommendations/direction on corrective actions, and maintaining required documentation.
Qualifications:
- The candidate should have Environmental or Engineering degree and relevant additional qualifications, e.g. NEBOSH Diploma/IGC, ISO Auditor, etc.
- Professional license/ membership (Grad IOSH/CM IOSH) is advantageous.
- At least 12 years experience in International funded projects.
