ABOUT THE ROLE
The Environmental Specialist develops, implements, maintains, and continuously improves environmental management, sustainability, and compliance programs. The role ensures compliance with Environmental Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD), MOCCAE, ISO 14001-2026 environmental requirements, and other applicable regulatory obligations. The Environmental Specialist leads environmental performance monitoring, GHG reporting, environmental impact assessments, sustainability initiatives, and environmental compliance activities while supporting the organization's environmental objectives and ESG commitments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, implement, and maintain environmental management systems and procedures in accordance with ISO 14001 and corporate requirements.
- Monitor compliance with EAD, MOCCAE, local environmental regulations, permits, licenses, and other applicable requirements.
- Develop and maintain environmental aspects and impacts registers, environmental objectives, targets, and performance indicators.
- Lead environmental compliance assessments, inspections, audits, and corrective action programs.
- Develop, monitor, and report environmental KPIs including energy, water, waste, emissions, and resource efficiency metrics.
- Develop and manage Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventories, carbon footprint calculations, emissions reporting, and reduction initiatives.
- Support Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), environmental risk assessments, and environmental due diligence activities.
- Support sustainability, ESG, CSR, and environmental stewardship initiatives across the organization.
- Prepare environmental reports, regulatory submissions, management reviews, and stakeholder communications.
- Develop environmental awareness programs and conduct environmental training sessions for employees and contractors.
- Ensure compliance with all related HSE requirements and promote environmentally responsible practices throughout the organization.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Chemical Engineering, HSE, or related discipline.
- Minimum: 6 years of environmental management, environmental compliance, sustainability, or HSE experience within manufacturing, aerospace, defense, industrial, or similar sectors.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems
- ISO 14001 Lead Auditor or Lead Implementer Certification
- GHG Accounting / Carbon Management Certification
- Sustainability, ESG, or Environmental Professional Certification
- Membership in a recognized environmental professional body
- Knowledge of UAE Environmental Regulations and EAD Requirement
