Executive Manager - Equity Investments

About the business area
To lead ADCB Asset Management's investment management activities, including both discretionary portfolios and proprietary mutual funds. The role involves leading a team of investment managers in managing funds and mandates in accordance with client and fund objectives within a robust control environment; setting future product strategy alongside Asset Management colleagues; and helping relationship managers and investment advisers service existing clients and win new business.
In this role, your key responsibilities include:
- Equity Portfolio Management Manage discretionary equity portfolios and funds to deliver sustainable risk-adjusted performance within approved investment objectives, mandates and risk parameters
- Determine portfolio construction, security selection, position sizing and rebalancing decisions, maintaining appropriate diversification and liquidity while ensuring that investment outcomes remain aligned with client requirements, product objectives and the Bank's investment governance framework
- Investment Strategy and Research - Develop and maintain a disciplined equity investment process that converts macroeconomic, industry and company research into differentiated investment strategies and actionable portfolio decisions
- Evaluate investment opportunities using robust fundamental analysis and valuation techniques, maintain clear investment rationales and review portfolio assumptions to strengthen decision quality, consistency and performance across market cycles
- Performance and Risk Governance - Oversee portfolio performance, attribution, market exposures and compliance with approved investment limits to maintain transparent and controlled investment outcomes
- Determine corrective portfolio actions and escalate material performance, liquidity, concentration, valuation or mandate matters through the appropriate governance channels, ensuring risks are understood, decisions are documented and client and Bank interests are safeguarded
- Investment Product Development - Develop equity investment strategies and product enhancements aligned with evolving client needs, market opportunities and the Asset Management business plan
- Provide investment expertise throughout product assessment, approval and implementation, collaborating with relevant control, product and operational stakeholders to ensure propositions are commercially viable, appropriately governed and supported by a clearly articulated investment approach
- Client and Stakeholder Engagement - Provide authoritative investment insight to Relationship Managers, Investment Advisers and clients by clearly articulating portfolio strategy, positioning, performance and market outlook
- Support the retention and development of client relationships, investment proposals and business opportunities, ensuring communications are evidence-based, consistent with approved disclosures and representative of the Bank's investment capabilities
- People Management - Manage self and team in line with ADCB's people management policies, procedures, processes and practices to ensure adherence and to maximise own and employee contribution to business performance
- Manage the effective achievement of the team's objectives through setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing the team and providing formal and informal feedback to maximise overall performance, engagement and motivation
- Budget Management - Contribute to the preparation of the business area's budget and manage and monitor the financial performance against the budget so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon
- Policies, Processes, Systems and Procedures - Recommend and implement improvements to departmental policies, procedures and processes covering all areas of activity so that all relevant procedural requirements are fulfilled while ensuring that ADCB delivers best-in-class services, products and innovation
- Continuous Improvement - Identify opportunities to contribute to organisational and departmental change initiatives, programmes and projects taking into account best practice and standards in the business environment
- Customer Service - Demonstrate Our Promise and apply the ADCB Service Standards to deliver the bank's required levels of service in all internal and external customer interactions.
The ideal candidate should have the following experience
- At least 8 years of equity experience in investment management within a financial services firm, such as an asset manager, sovereign wealth fund, private bank or family office
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting or a related discipline
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA)
