Job Brief:
The Design & Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing fire-fighting system designs and accurate cost estimates in accordance with NFPA standards and the regional Fire & Life Safety Code. The role supports tendering, technical submissions, and project coordination across commercial, residential, and industrial projects.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design fire-fighting systems including sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels, pump rooms, FM-200, CO, and foam systems as per NFPA standards and regional Civil Defence requirements.
- Prepare detailed AutoCAD drawings, coordination layouts, hydraulic calculations, and all required technical documentation.
- Review project specifications and ensure proper system integration with MEP, architectural, and structural services.
- Conduct site assessments when required to validate design feasibility and project conditions.
- Prepare BOQs, quantity take-offs, and accurate cost estimates for tenders and quotations.
- Evaluate supplier quotations, ensure technical compliance, and recommend suitable materials.
- Support sales and project teams with technical clarifications, value engineering, and tender submissions.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum3 years of regional experience in the design and estimation of fire-fighting systems.
- Strong knowledge of NFPA standards and the regional Fire & Life Safety Code.
- Experience in sprinklers, hydrants, fire pumps, suppression systems (FM-200 / CO / foam), and fire-alarm interfaces.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of hydraulic calculation tools is an advantage.
- Ability to prepare compliant technical submissions, BOQs, and design documentation.
- Strong analytical, technical, and coordination skills.
