Role Description The Estimation Engineer – Marine Construction role is a full-time, on-site position based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and BOQs for marine and civil construction projects, including breakwaters, quay walls, jetties, and related infrastructure. Day-to-day tasks include studying project drawings and specifications, conducting quantity take-offs, coordinating with engineering and project teams, and researching material, equipment, and subcontractor rates. The Estimation Engineer will analyze bids, support negotiation with vendors and subcontractors, and prepare technical and commercial proposals in line with client and regulatory requirements. The role also involves maintaining up-to-date cost databases, supporting value engineering initiatives, and contributing to risk assessments and tender reviews to help secure and deliver profitable projects.
Qualifications
  • Strong project estimation capabilities, including Project Estimation and BOQ preparation for marine and civil construction projects.
  • Technical background in Civil Engineering or Marine Engineering, with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Effective Negotiation skills for engaging with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients on pricing and contract terms.
  • Solid Research skills to benchmark market rates, identify suitable materials and methods, and support cost optimization.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Relevant experience in marine or heavy civil construction estimation, preferably within the UAE or GCC region.
  • Proficiency in estimation and quantity take-off software, MS Excel, and other standard engineering tools.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, manage deadlines, and handle multiple tenders simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of local regulations, tendering procedures, and contract types (e.g., FIDIC) is an advantage.
