Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Estimation Engineer with experience in the printing and packaging industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, evaluating customer requirements, coordinating with production and procurement teams, and ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Review customer inquiries, artwork, drawings, and specifications to prepare accurate quotations.
- Estimate costs for printing, packaging materials, finishing, labor, machine time, and logistics.
- Prepare BOQs (Bill of Quantities), cost sheets, and commercial proposals.
- Coordinate with sales, production, procurement, and design teams to gather technical and commercial information.
- Source and evaluate material costs from suppliers and vendors.
- Analyze production methods to recommend cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
- Prepare estimates for various printing processes such as offset, digital, flexographic, gravure, and screen printing, where applicable.
- Estimate costs for packaging products including cartons, labels, corrugated boxes, rigid boxes, flexible packaging, and promotional materials.
- Maintain an updated database of material prices, production costs, and supplier quotations.
- Participate in technical discussions with clients to clarify project requirements.
- Ensure quotations are submitted within the required timelines.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize costing and estimation processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Printing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience as an Estimation Engineer in the printing and packaging industry.
- Strong knowledge of printing processes, packaging materials, production workflows, and finishing techniques.
- Experience in preparing commercial quotations and cost estimates.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/MIS software.
- Ability to read technical drawings, artwork specifications, and packaging designs.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and time management.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of paper grades, board materials, inks, adhesives, laminations, and packaging finishes.
- Understanding of offset, flexographic, digital, and gravure printing processes.
- Commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Strong coordination and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience working with ISO quality standards is an advantage.
