About the business area - Group Risk Management

ADCB prioritises a disciplined approach to risk, recognising its fundamental importance to the Bank's long-term organisational and financial resilience. Group Risk Management oversees the implementation of ADCB's risk objectives, identifying and addressing gaps in the bank's risk infrastructure/framework. Their responsibilities include nurturing the independence of the risk function, establishing provisioning policies, and introducing changes to energise risk awareness among front office personnel and decision-makers. Continuously tuning the risk organisation in line with market best practices, they manage ADCB's portfolio and associated risks to international standards, while establishing a clear risk culture across all areas of operation.

In this role, your key responsibilities include:

  • To develop, maintain and oversee the Bank's risk governance and enterprise risk management frameworks to support effective risk identification, assessment and reporting in order to strengthen organisational risk maturity, regulatory compliance and sound risk based decision making
  • Develop, update and maintain the Bank's risk governance framework, including charters, policies, standards and governance structures to ensure consistent, transparent and effective risk oversight across all functions in order to improve overall risk maturity
  • Lead the development and enhancement of the ERM framework, ensuring robust processes for risk identification, assessment, aggregation and reporting so that the Bank maintains a comprehensive, enterprise wide view of risks
  • Lead the formulation and annual review of the Risk Appetite Statement and associated metrics, ensure alignment with strategy, monitor adherence and recommend adjustments to support sustainable growth and informed risk taking
  • Oversee the implementation of Basel requirements, ICAAP and enterprisewide stress testing; coordinate inputs across business units; ensure highquality submissions; and identify required enhancements to meet regulatory expectations
  • Direct the consolidation, analysis and preparation of enterprise risk reports, dashboards and Board/Committee submissions to ensure timely escalation of material risks and emerging issues
  • Manage self and team in line with AHB's people management policies, procedures, processes and practices to ensure adherence and to maximise own and employee contribution to business performance
  • Manage the effective achievement of the team's objectives through setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing the team and providing formal and informal feedback to maximise overall performance, engagement and motivation
  • Contribute to the preparation of the business area's budget and manage and monitor the financial performance against the budget so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon
  • Recommend and implement improvements to departmental policies, procedures and processes covering all areas of activity so that all relevant procedural requirements are fulfilled while ensuring that AHB delivers best-in-class services, products and innovation

The ideal candidate should have the following experience

  • Minimum 8 years of progressive risk management experience in leading financial institutions, including at least 2 years in the GCC region.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Risk Management, Accounting or a related field
  • Professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, CRM, CPA or equivalent are preferred but not mandatory as per guidelines
  • Strategic thinking and leadership.
  • Deep knowledge of regulatory requirements and risk governance.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to drive alignment across diverse subsidiaries and geographies
  • Strong knowledge of risk governance principles
  • Knowledge of enterprise risk management tools and
  • methodologies
  • Knowledge of ICAAP, stress testing and Basel regulatory
  • frameworks
  • Analytical and quantitative skills, including risk analytics
  • Advanced Excel and risk system proficiency
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Stakeholder engagement and influencing capability
  • Ability to synthesise complex information into structured
  • reports
