Role Summary
Own end-to-end logistics network performance across first, middle, and last mile. Responsible for designing the operating model, building scalable processes, and driving technology-enabled execution (systems, integrations, visibility, automation). The role also includes product-building ownership and a commercial mindset to shape B2B offerings, partnerships, and growth opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Tech & integrations: Own logistics tech requirements with product/engineering or vendors (APIs/EDI, webhooks, event schemas, reconciliation, exception workflows).
- Product building: Lead discovery, define PRDs/user stories, prioritize backlog, run MVPs/pilots, measure outcomes, and iterate quickly.
- Commercial enablement / business development: Support shaping SLAs, pricing logic, service tiers; identify partnerships; and help drive pipeline with strong operational credibility.
- Carrier/3PL strategy: Select and manage carriers/3PLs, negotiate SLAs, and run performance governance.
- Capacity & planning: Forecast demand, manage capacity, define routing/load planning principles, and optimize utilization.
- Exception management at scale: Build playbooks and escalation paths for major failure scenarios (missed pickups, delays, sort failures, failed deliveries, damages/loss, returns, claims).
- Operational excellence: Build SOPs, QA, audit mechanisms, continuous improvement cycles, and weekly ops reviews.
- Team leadership (as needed): Lead a small ops or product‑ops team; hire and coach as we scale.
Must‑Have Experience
- 8+ years in logistics/network operations with deep ownership across first, middle, and last mile.
- Proven track record building tech-enabled workflows (not just using tools): integrations, tracking events, automation, dashboards, reconciliation.
- Experience in venture builder/product incubation or equivalent, with hands-on MVP building and scaling.
- Clear business development mindset: able to shape B2B value propositions and support commercial teams.
- Strong understanding of logistics economics: cost‑to‑serve, utilization, density, failure costs, returns.
- Strong KPI discipline and operational governance.
- Demonstrated end-to-end product-building capability — from concept to MVP to scalable solutions — ideally gained in environments such as Amazon or similar .
- A strong commercial and business development mindset — able to identify opportunities, shape partnerships, and turn operational capabilities into B2B revenue growth.
Preferred
- Experience in high‑growth startups, logistics platforms, e‑commerce logistics, or multi‑carrier orchestration.
- Familiarity with TMS/WMS/OMS, dispatch, route optimization, scanning/event models, claims workflows.
- Strong analytics: Excel/Sheets; SQL/BI is a plus.
Success Metrics
- Successful MVPs built, shipped, and scaled with measurable ROI.
- Clear contribution to B2B growth (partnerships enabled, deals supported, service tiers launched).
