This role requires planning and strong technical expertise to ensure efficient and reliable operations across our international businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, specification development, selection, and deployment of terminal handling equipment and technical assets across international port and logistics projects.
  • Develop technical equipment concepts, layouts, and engineering solutions aligned with operational requirements, terminal design, and business objectives.
  • Support FEED activities, structuring tender packages, master planning, and terminal development projects by defining equipment requirements, capacities, quantities, and operational interfaces.
  • Conduct technical evaluations, feasibility assessments, and equipment performance analyses to optimize operational efficiency, reliability, and safety.
  • Develop technical specifications, scope of work documents, tender packages, and engineering standards for equipment procurement and implementation.
  • Collaborate with operations, project development, engineering, procurement, and external consultants to ensure successful delivery of equipment-related across international projects.
  • Provide technical expertise during procurement activities, including supplier qualification, technical bid evaluations, contract negotiations, and vendor performance assessments.
  • Manage equipment contracts throughout the equipment delivery lifecycle, including design review, manufacturing, FAT/SAT, commissioning, handover, and warranty management.
  • Ensure all equipment solutions comply with applicable international standards, regulatory requirements, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
  • Develop equipment maintenance strategies, lifecycle cost assessments, OPEX estimates, and manpower requirements to support sustainable terminal operations.
  • Prepare technical reports, engineering studies, business cases, project updates, and recommendations for management review and decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities for technology enhancement, automation, digitization, and continuous improvement across equipment engineering activities.

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement long-term technical equipment engineering strategies that support the International Office's port, terminal, and logistics growth objectives.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for greenfield and brownfield port development projects, ensuring equipment investments align with operational and commercial strategies.
  • Drive standardization of technical equipment specifications, engineering practices, and operational requirements across international projects.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, automation solutions, electrification initiatives, and smart port innovations to enhance operational competitiveness and sustainability.
  • Support investment decisions through technical due diligence, equipment lifecycle analysis, risk assessments, and cost-benefit evaluations.
  • Establish strategic partnerships with equipment manufacturers, engineering consultants, and technology providers to strengthen technical capabilities and innovation.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives by assessing technical feasibility, equipment requirements, and operational readiness for new port and logistics opportunities.
  • Champion safety, sustainability, and operational excellence by embedding international best practices into equipment engineering and asset management frameworks.
  • Support the development of future-ready terminal operating models by integrating advanced equipment technologies, automation systems, and digital engineering solutions.
  • Act as the technical authority for equipment engineering matters, providing strategic guidance to project stakeholders, leadership teams, and operating entities.
  • People Management Responsibilities:
  • If needed develop and implement training and development programs to enhance the team's technical capabilities.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration within the engineering team

Qualifications

Educational and Technical Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, or Marine Engineering. A master's degree or equivalent is a plus.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) certification or equivalent is preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant engineering tools (desired)

Language Skills:

  • Fluency in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.

Years of Experience:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in port and maritime equipment engineering, with at least 5 years in managerial role.

Nature of Experience:

  • In-depth understanding of port and maritime equipment engineering principles, standards, and best practices.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, with a proven track record in managing high-performing engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and implement innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.
  • Familiarity with international regulations and compliance requirements for port and maritime operations.
