What you'll do:

Skilled Facility Manager to oversee the operations and maintenance of a chain of dark stores. The ideal candidate will ensure that all facilities are fully operational, compliant with regulations, and maintained to high standards to support seamless store operations and customer fulfillment.

1) Facility Maintenance and Operations

  • Manage the day-to-day maintenance of dark stores, including HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical systems, and general repairs.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and optimize equipment performance.
  • Oversee the maintenance and monitoring of cold storage systems, ensuring temperature consistency and compliance with food safety standards.

2) Vendor and Contractor Management

  • Liaise with service providers, contractors, and suppliers for maintenance, repairs, and equipment procurement.
  • Negotiate contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality.
  • Monitor vendor performance to ensure adherence to SLAs (Service Level Agreements).

3) Compliance and Safety

  • Ensure all facilities comply with local regulations and safety standards, including fire safety, electrical safety, and hygiene standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and address compliance gaps.
  • Implement and enforce health and safety policies for all staff and contractors working in dark stores.

4) Budget and Resource Management

  • Prepare and manage facility management budgets, including forecasting expenses and tracking costs.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize energy consumption and reduce operational costs.
  • Plan for long-term asset replacement and upgrades.

5) Team Coordination and Support

  • Work closely with operations and procurement teams to ensure facilities support store operations.
  • Train and supervise on-site staff and technicians for routine maintenance and emergency protocols.

6) Emergency Management

  • Develop and execute emergency response plans for equipment failures, power outages, or other crises.
  • Ensure readiness of backup systems, including generators and alternative storage solutions.

What you'll need:

1) Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Facility Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., IFMA, BIFM, or similar) are an advantage.

2) Experience

  • Minimum of 6-7 years of experience in facility management, preferably in retail, warehousing, or logistics sectors.
  • Proven experience managing cold storage or temperature-controlled facilities is highly desirable.

3) Skills and Competencies

  • Strong understanding of MEP systems, refrigeration units, and other critical equipment.
  • Knowledge of local compliance and safety regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and crisis management skills.
  • Strong vendor negotiation and contract management abilities.
  • Proficiency in facility management software and tools.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple locations simultaneously.
