Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced
Consultant in Fetal Medicine to provide expert care in the diagnosis, assessment, and management of fetal conditions and high-risk pregnancies. The successful candidate will perform advanced fetal imaging, counsel expectant parents, manage fetal abnormalities, and undertake fetal interventions where appropriate. The role requires close collaboration with obstetricians, neonatologists, geneticists, pediatric specialists, and other multidisciplinary team members to deliver exceptional maternal and fetal care.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, evaluate, and manage fetal abnormalities using advanced ultrasound and other prenatal diagnostic techniques.
- Perform detailed fetal anomaly scans, fetal echocardiography, and growth assessments.
- Provide prenatal counseling to expectant parents regarding fetal conditions, prognosis, and management options.
- Assess maternal medical and obstetric history and develop individualized care plans.
- Perform or supervise invasive prenatal diagnostic procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling (CVS).
- Carry out fetal therapeutic interventions, including fetal blood transfusions, fetoscopic procedures, and other intrauterine treatments where indicated.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including obstetrics, neonatology, genetics, pediatric surgery, and radiology.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with hospital policies.
- Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, teaching, and research activities.
- Stay current with advances in fetal medicine through continuous professional development and attendance at scientific meetings.
Requirements
- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Completion of specialty training in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
- Fellowship or Certification in Fetal Medicine from a recognized international body.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Consultant in Fetal Medicine in a reputable tertiary care hospital.
- Western education and/or experience in a recognized healthcare system (UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or equivalent) is mandatory.
- Eligibility for or possession of a valid DHA, DOH, or MOH Consultant license.
- Excellent communication, counseling, and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage.
