Job Responsibilities
- Fiber Optic Installation & Maintenance
- Install and maintain Fiber Optics FTTH (Fiber-to-the-Home) networks.
- Ensure proper functioning of all fiber optic systems during routine and preventive maintenance.
- Fiber Repair, Splicing & Termination
- Perform fiber splicing and rectification of fault points.
- Splice and terminate Single Mode (SM) fiber with accuracy.
- Prepare, organize, and splice fiber optic cables from single strands to high-count bundles.
- Access and handle fiber splice enclosures, including working from a bucket truck when required.
- Troubleshooting & Testing
- Perform basic to advanced troubleshooting of fiber optic systems with minimal supervision.
- Conduct comprehensive fiber optic tests such as:
- OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer)
- Power meter / Laser source tests
- Fiber scope / visual inspection
- Diagnose and resolve system faults efficiently.
- Equipment Setup & Telecom Installations
- Install demarcation enclosures, fiber switches, and telecom distribution equipment.
- Ensure correct configuration and safe installation practices.
- Safety, Documentation & Additional Duties
- Maintain accurate documentation of fiber routes, splice details, and test reports.
- Follow safety standards when handling fiber, cables, and related equipment.
- Perform additional technical duties as assigned by supervisors.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Hands-on experience in fiber splicing & termination.
- Strong knowledge of FTTH network structure.
- Experience with OTDR, power meters, laser sources, and inspection scopes.
- Ability to perform fiber cutting, re-routing, restoration, and ring cuts.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good physical fitness to work on elevated platforms / bucket trucks.
Preferred Skills
- Certification in Fiber Optics / FTTH is an added advantage.
- Experience with telecom demarcation systems, ENclosures & switching equipment.
- Knowledge of safety standards in fiber optic handling.
