Job Description

About The Role

Film Scene Description Specialist (AI Training)

What if your passion for film and your eye for visual detail could directly shape how AI understands the language of cinema We're looking for Film Scene Description Specialists to watch short video clips and translate what's on screen into precise, structured, beat-by-beat descriptions — helping AI systems learn how scenes are composed, paced, and emotionally framed.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role open to anyone with a genuine interest in film or visual storytelling and a talent for descriptive writing. No professional film or production experience required.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Watch short film or video clips and break them down into structured visual beats
  • Describe camera movement, framing, shot composition, pacing, and blocking with precision
  • Capture mood, tone, and emotional subtext using purely visual language — no reliance on dialogue
  • Follow standardized formatting guidelines to produce consistent scene summaries and beat-by-beat breakdowns
  • Re-watch clips as needed to ensure accuracy and depth
  • Maintain quality and consistency across a high volume of scene descriptions

Who You Are

  • Genuine interest in film, television, visual storytelling, or cinematography
  • Strong descriptive writing skills — you can paint a picture with words
  • Able to articulate visual information clearly and without referencing spoken dialogue
  • Detail-oriented and comfortable working methodically through structured tasks
  • Self-motivated and reliable when working independently
  • No professional film, production, or AI experience required

Nice to Have

  • Background in film studies, photography, screenwriting, or visual arts
  • Experience writing shot lists, scene breakdowns, or production notes
  • Familiarity with cinematographic terminology (framing, composition, depth of field, etc.)
  • Experience with content annotation or AI training data

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
  • Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, task-based work
  • Put your love of film to work in a role that has real impact on how AI perceives the visual world
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
