Finance Business Partner
Job Purpose
- The Finance Business Partner will act as a commercial and financial advisor to the business, partnering closely with Operations, Business Development, and Senior Management to drive profitability, cost discipline, and informed decision-making.
- This role combines hands-on financial control with forward-looking commercial insight, with clear accountability for gross margin tracking, budget adherence, forecasting accuracy, and bid profitability
Roles, Responsibilities, Duties
- Project Financial Management & Gross Margin Control
- Own and monitor project financial performance, including revenue recognition, cost tracking, and gross margin.
- Analyze GM at bid, budget, and actual, and clearly explain variances.
- Conduct post-project margin reviews and recommend improvement actions.
- Partner with Project Managers to implement corrective measures where margins are at risk.
- Proactively identify margin leakage, cost overruns, and revenue risks.
- Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning
- Lead project budgeting in collaboration with Operations and Business Development.
- Maintain and control budgets within SAP with proper version management.
- Monitor actual performance against budgets and flag deviations early.
- Prepare and update annual forecasts incorporating pipeline and execution risks.
- Challenge financial assumptions to enhance forecast accuracy and credibility.
- Revenue, Billing & Orderbook Management
- Review and validate sales invoices for accuracy and contractual compliance.
- Ensure timely invoicing to prevent revenue leakage and cash flow delays.
- Prepare weekly revenue and variance analysis reports.
- Maintain monthly orderbook and backlog trackers linked to forecasts.
- Support revenue visibility and performance tracking.
- Business Development & Bid Commercial Support
- Support BD review meetings with financial and commercial insights.
- Evaluate bid profitability, cash flow impact, and risk exposure.
- Compare forecasts against targets and pipeline performance.
- Establish minimum margin thresholds and pricing guardrails.
- Conduct bid-versus-actual post-mortems to strengthen future pricing.
- Working Capital & Cash Flow Management
- Coordinate vendor payments in line with approval controls.
- Support Operations in accelerating billing and collections.
- Monitor receivables and resolve collection issues.
- Oversee petty cash controls and compliance.
- Drive working capital optimization initiatives.
- Bonds, Guarantees & Treasury Coordination
- Prepare documentation for bonds and bank guarantees.
- Coordinate with Treasury on issuance, amendments, and renewals.
- Track bond exposure, utilization, and expiry.
- Ensure no operational or financial risk from guaranteed lapses.
- Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
- Manage month-end closing activities, including accruals and reconciliations.
- Ensure financial data accuracy and completeness.
- Produce management reports linking financial results to operational drivers.
- Support leadership with actionable financial insights.
- Audit, Controls & Governance
- Support external and internal audits.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Identify control gaps and recommend process improvements.
- Strengthen financial governance across projects.

- Know how to report a security incident (to IT ServiceDesk or InfoSec).
- Not Disable his/her OS firewall and/or Antivirus
- Restrict use to authorized purposes, Protect access accounts, privileges and associated passwords.
- Accept accountability of his/her individual user accounts, and maintain confidentiality
Qualification:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
Professional certification (ACCA, CPA, CA) preferred.
Advanced proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Excel.
Strong financial modelling and analytical capabilities.
Experience and Skills:
Industry Experience (No. of years):
78 years in finance roles within project-based environments.
Position/functional experience (No. of years):
Minimum 35 years in Finance Business Partner, Commercial Finance, or Project Finance roles.
Experience in contracting, infrastructure, or services sectors is highly preferred.
Exposure to bids, tenders, and contract-driven revenue models is advantageous
