About The Role

The corporate finance team is seeking a Director of Finance and Control to lead financial planning, controls, and reporting for City Operations. This is a senior role focused on translating operational priorities into structured financial frameworks, while partnering closely with central finance functions and business stakeholders to support disciplined decision-making and execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for City Operations in coordination with the central finance function.
  • Develop service charge and cost recovery mechanisms, including input modelling, calculations, reporting, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Build and monitor financial KPIs, management information reporting, and performance insights to support leadership decision-making.
  • Manage budget control and cost tracking across City Operations functions, identifying risks, variances, and cost optimisation opportunities.
  • Lead the invoicing process in collaboration with City Operations teams and central finance functions.
  • Maintain asset registers and general ledger integrity, including reconciliations, accruals, and period-close support.
  • Coordinate across Finance and Controls, City Operations, and relevant stakeholders to align and implement financial processes.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related business discipline.
  • 12 or more years of relevant experience in finance, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, or operational finance.
  • Demonstrated experience with service charge, cost recovery, or shared services financial models.
  • Strong command of financial planning, cost control, variance analysis, and financial performance management.
  • Deep knowledge of invoicing, general ledger management, reconciliations, accruals, and period-close processes.
  • Proven ability to translate operational requirements into financial plans, reports, and actionable insights.
  • Experience working effectively with operations leaders, central finance teams, senior leadership, and business unit counterparts.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related business field.
