Job Description
We're hiring a Finance Manager for a investment company managing a diversified portfolio across direct investments, private equity, venture capital, and other holdings.
The role sits close to senior leadership and requires strong technical grounding, sound judgment, and absolute discretion.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate books and records for the investment holding entities, direct investments, and fund commitments, applying IFRS consistently across the group including determining the appropriate accounting treatment for controlled investees (consolidation vs. the IFRS 10 investment entity fair value exception), associates (equity method under IAS 28), and joint arrangements (IFRS 11).
- Track capital calls, distributions, and unfunded commitments across the fund portfolio, and reconcile fund-reported NAV and capital account statements against internal records.
- Oversee the valuation of unlisted, private investments in line with the company's documented valuation policy, consistent with IFRS 13 fair value principles and, where appropriate, IPEV Guidelines.
- Prepare quarterly and annual portfolio-level reporting packages for leadership, covering NAV and performance summaries, capital account/commitment status, portfolio composition, and material developments across holdings.
- Translate technical investment performance into clear, accessible reporting and presentations suitable for stakeholders without a finance background, while maintaining full technical accuracy underneath.
- Act as a key point of contact with external fund managers (GPs), co-investors, and administrators for reporting, capital calls, and distribution processing.
- Manage cash flow planning and liquidity across investment entities, including funding upcoming capital calls and coordinating distributions.
- Ensure compliance with UAE regulatory and tax requirements relevant to investment holding structures, including UAE Corporate Tax treatment of investment income (e.g., Qualifying Investment Fund conditions) and VAT treatment of financial and advisory services.
- Liaise with external tax advisors, auditors, and legal counsel on structuring, compliance, and reporting matters across the group's UAE and international entities (including DIFC/ADGM structures where applicable).
- Support and help formalize the company's investment governance framework, including investment policy documentation, related-party transaction policies, and investment committee reporting.
- Identify, document, and ensure appropriate disclosure and approval of related-party transactions in accordance with IAS 24 and the company's governance policies.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of reporting processes, systems, and controls as the portfolio grows in complexity.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a professional qualification (CFA, CPA, ACCA, CA, or equivalent) is required.
- Approximately 8–12 years of relevant post-qualification experience, including meaningful exposure to private equity, venture capital, or investment holding company accounting and reporting — this is not primarily a transactional or audit-finance background role.
- UAE experience strongly preferred, including familiarity with UAE VAT, UAE Corporate Tax, and the DIFC/ADGM regulatory environment.
- Strong working knowledge of relevant IFRS standards, including IFRS 9, IFRS 10 (including the investment entity exception), IFRS 13, IAS 28, and IFRS 11.
- Demonstrated financial modeling and valuation capability (DCF, comparable company/precedent transaction analysis, LBO-style modeling) and fluency with private markets performance metrics (IRR, MOIC, TVPI, DPI) and fund waterfall mechanics.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with portfolio management or fund administration systems (e.g., eFront, Addepar, Allvue, or similar) is an advantage.
- Prior experience in a private equity fund, investment holding company, or investment bank/advisory environment is highly relevant.
