Role Summary

The Financial Analyst will support Data Center, Cloud, AI, and broader Digital Infrastructure Advisory engagements by developing robust financial models, investment cases, and scenario analyses that inform strategic decisions on data center and digital infrastructure investments, expansion, and optimization. The role focuses on translating market, technical, and commercial inputs into structured financial frameworks to assess feasibility, returns, and risk across complex infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Modeling & Analysis

  • Develop detailed financial models for data center, Cloud, AI, and broader digital infrastructure investment projects, including CAPEX, OPEX, and total cost of ownership (TCO).
  • Build revenue and demand-driven projections aligned with market scenarios and go-to-market strategies.
  • Perform investment analysis (IRR, NPV, Payback Period) to evaluate project viability and returns.
  • Conduct scenario and sensitivity analysis across demand, pricing, utilization, and phasing assumptions.

Market & Commercial Analysis

  • Support market analysis, market sizing, demand forecasting, pricing analysis, and commercial strategy development.
  • Assess addressable demand across data center, colocation, cloud, AI infrastructure, and managed services.
  • Validate commercial and macroeconomic assumptions used within business plans and financial models, including pricing, utilization, ramp-up, customer adoption, inflation, FX, interest rates, and cost escalation.
  • Benchmark pricing, service offerings, and business models against relevant competitors and market peers.

Business Case Development

  • Support development of investment-grade business cases and financial justification for data center and digital infrastructure projects.
  • Translate technical and commercial inputs into financial outputs supporting stakeholder decision-making.
  • Consolidate financial outputs into structured reports and presentations for executive stakeholders within client organizations (typically data center service providers) and prospective investors.

Investment, Funding & Valuation Support

  • Evaluate investment, funding, and partnership options, including PPPs, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, leasing, and phased investment structures, and conduct related financial analysis to assess feasibility, returns, risk, and commercial viability.
  • Support valuation, acquisition analysis, and financial due diligence for data center and digital infrastructure assets, including assessment of business performance, financial assumptions, investment risks, and key value drivers.
  • Support investment appraisal and decision-making through scenario analysis, sensitivity testing, and comparison of alternative investment structures.

Data Center Advisory Support

  • Collaborate with other team members to integrate market demand forecasts, capacity planning, and commercial strategies.
  • Support evaluation of operating models, funding structures, and investment options (PPP, partnerships, leasing).

Financial Framework Development

  • Define key financial drivers including revenue streams, pricing structures, cost structures, and demand assumptions.
  • Ensure models align with infrastructure design assumptions and capacity scaling strategies.

Decision Support & Insights

  • Provide insights to optimize financial outcomes and improve project returns.
  • Identify risks and financial sensitivities impacting investment decisions.
  • Support client-facing deliverables with clear, data-driven narratives.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field (required).
  • MBA or equivalent graduate degree preferred.
  • Professional certification such as CFA, CPA, CA, CIMA, FMVA, or equivalent preferred.

Core Skills

  • Advanced financial modeling skills (Excel or financial modeling tools).
  • Strong understanding of investment analysis and capital project modeling.
  • Ability to translate technical infrastructure inputs into financial outputs.

Industry Knowledge

  • Familiarity with data center, digital infrastructure, or large-scale capital projects.
  • Understanding of CAPEX/OPEX dynamics and commercial models in infrastructure investments.

Experience Requirements

  • 3–7+ years of experience in financial modeling, consulting, or infrastructure advisory.
  • Experience supporting feasibility studies and business case development.
  • Prior exposure to data center, telecom, energy, or digital infrastructure sectors preferred.
  • Exposure to investment appraisal, funding structures, PPPs, partnerships, or infrastructure investment analysis is preferred.
  • Exposure to asset valuation, acquisition analysis, transaction support, or financial due diligence is preferred.
