Al Jazira Sports & Cultural Club is seeking an experienced and strategic Financial Controller to lead financial accounting, reporting, budgeting, and compliance functions within the Finance Department.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring strong financial governance, regulatory compliance, accurate reporting, and effective internal controls across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes
- Review journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial schedules
- Ensure consistency of accounting practices across divisions
- Maintain strong internal financial controls
Budgeting, Forecasting & Performance Management
- Lead annual budget preparation and rolling forecasts
- Monitor budget vs. actual performance and analyze variances
- Provide financial insights on revenue performance, cost trends, and financial risks
- Support management with financial modeling and scenario analysis
Compliance & Audit
- Act as the primary liaison for internal and external auditors
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, UAE VAT, and statutory requirements
- Coordinate audit processes and address audit observations
Systems & Reporting
- Oversee ERP and finance systems
- Drive process automation and reporting improvements
- Support financial system enhancements and integrations
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop the finance team
- Promote accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified Accountant (CA, CPA, or ACCA)
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in financial accounting and reporting
- Experience in government or large organizations preferred
- Strong IFRS knowledge; UAE VAT experience preferred
- ERP system experience
