About the role
A growing technology company based in Abu Dhabi is looking for a Financial Controller to take ownership of its finance and accounting function across a multi-entity structure spanning the UAE and the US. This is a hands-on role reporting into senior leadership, ideal for an early-career finance professional who is technically strong and ready to run the full function with minimal oversight.
What you'll do
- Own the full month-end and year-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals and prepayments across all entities.
- Prepare timely management accounts, including P&L statements, balance sheets and cash flow reports for leadership review.
- Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts, ensuring reporting is IFRS-compliant and audit-ready at all times.
- Manage accounting across UAE and US entities, including intercompany reconciliations, eliminations and cross-entity cost allocations.
- Act as the main point of contact with external tax advisors on Corporate Tax, VAT and related filings.
- Ensure timely and accurate regulatory submissions, including VAT returns and other statutory reporting.
- Coordinate the annual external audit, preparing schedules and responding to auditor queries.
- Manage bank reconciliations across all accounts and entities, and liaise with banking partners on payments and documentation.
- Process payroll across all entities accurately and on time, in line with UAE WPS requirements.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including vendor payments, client invoicing, collections and reconciliations.
- Maintain and improve accounting systems and finance workflows for accuracy and efficiency.
What you bring
- 5-6 years of accounting or finance experience, with meaningful time spent working in the UAE.
- Professional accounting qualification in progress or recently completed - CA, ACCA, CMA, CPA or equivalent strongly preferred.
- Solid working knowledge of IFRS and UAE accounting and tax regulations, including VAT, Corporate Tax and WPS.
- Hands-on experience with multi-entity accounting and intercompany reconciliations.
- Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems, and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail, with the discipline to check your own work.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise under pressure and meet deadlines without being chased.
- Prior experience in a technology company or multi-jurisdictional corporate structure is an advantage.
- Fluent written and spoken English; Arabic language skills are a plus for banking and regulatory interactions.
