Job Summary:
The Financial Director will own the organization's financial strategy and performanceleading FP&A, treasury, accounting, compliance, and projectbased controlsto ensure profitability, cash discipline, and longterm growth. The role partners with executive leadership to translate operational plans and bids into robust budgets, forecasts, and riskmanaged outcomes, while enforcing strong governance (IFRS), internal controls, and ERP-enabled processes across multiproject portfolios.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead financial planning & analysis (FP&A): Build annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and scenario models; drive variance analysis and course corrections.
- Own monthly, quarterly & annual financial reporting: Deliver timely management packs and board reports with clear KPIs and insights.
- Project finance oversight: Review project performance vs. baselines (margin, cash collection, WIP), challenge cost-to-complete, and support project teams on corporate reporting.
- Bid/tender support: Provide financial rigor during bidspricing, tax, cashflow, bonding assumptionsand advise on risk/reward.
- Cash flow & working capital management: Orchestrate receivables, payables, inventory/WIP, and milestone billing to sustain liquidity.
- Treasury & banking relations: Manage facilities (LCs/guarantees, if applicable), funding needs, covenant compliance, and FX risk within policy.
- Accounting & control: Ensure accurate ledgers, reconciliations, and close processes; strengthen internal controls and policies.
- Audit leadership: Coordinate external audits and oversee internal audit remediation and control maturity.
- Compliance & standards: Enforce adherence to IFRS and relevant tax/regulatory requirements across jurisdictions.
- Tax governance: Oversee direct/indirect tax filings, transfer pricing (if applicable), and optimize effective tax rate.
- ERP & financial systems ownership: Sponsor ERP roadmap; ensure data integrity and automation across SAP/Oracle/Dynamics and EPM/BI stacks.
- Cost optimization & profitability: Identify structural savings, improve ROI on capex, and elevate margin through operational efficiency.
- Risk management: Map key financial/contract risks; implement mitigations and ensure robust delegation of authority.
- Investment appraisal: Lead business cases for new markets/projects/JVs; oversee postinvestment reviews and performance tracking.
- Governance & pricing: Support pricing strategies (fees/tenders), performance management, and adherence to corporate policies.
- Business partnering: Act as strategic advisor to CEO/MD and SLT; balance independence with partnership across commercial/operations.
- Stakeholder reporting: Prepare clear updates for executives, boards, and (where relevant) investors/partners.
- Team leadership: Build and coach a highperforming finance organization; set development plans and succession bench.
Qualifications required:
- 15+ years total finance experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership managing multientity/project environments.
- Bachelor's in Finance, Accounting, Economics (Master's/MBA preferred).
- Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, ACA, CMA or local equivalent).
- Demonstrated expertise in IFRS and corporate finance; strong P&L oversight and forecasting skills.
- Proven experience as a Finance Director (or equivalent senior finance role) in projectbased/regulated industries.
- ERP: SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics (lead implementations, data integrity, and process automation).
- BI/Analytics: Power BI/Tableau for dashboards and performance insights.
- Financial reporting & controls: IFRScompliant close, consolidation, and audit support.
