About Owlera

Owlera is an AI-powered career platform that helps students and fresh graduates gain practical experience through internship simulations inspired by real companies.

Participants work on realistic business challenges, receive AI-powered feedback, use modern professional tools, and build portfolio-ready projects that demonstrate their abilities to future employers.

We're looking for driven, detail-oriented, and spreadsheet-loving students to join our Financial Modeling Internship and gain hands-on experience building the models that drive real business decisions.

About the Internship

As a Financial Modeling Intern, you'll build realistic financial models inspired by real company work: forecasting revenues, modeling costs, valuing businesses, and turning numbers into recommendations.

You'll learn how analysts structure models, stress-test assumptions, and present data-driven insights to decision-makers.

Responsibilities

* Build three-statement financial models (income, balance sheet, cash flow) for practice companies.

* Forecast revenues, COGS, and operating expenses with driver-based assumptions.

* Perform discounted cash flow (DCF) valuations with sensitivity and scenario analyses.

* Build comparable-company (trading comps) and precedent-transaction analyses.

* Construct football-field valuation summaries from multiple valuation methods.

* Build leveraged buyout (LBO) models with debt schedules, returns, and IRR/MOIC analysis.

* Model revenue bridges, unit economics, and cohort analyses for mock businesses.

* Build working-capital and capex schedules tied to operating forecasts.

* Create budget vs. actual variance models with commentary.

* Build headcount and hiring-plan models for mock companies.

* Model debt schedules, interest, and credit capacity for financing scenarios.

* Run accretion/dilution analyses for hypothetical mergers.

* Build scenario models (base, upside, downside) with assumption switches.

* Design clean, auditable model structures with consistent formatting and formulas.

* Build executive dashboards and KPI summaries from model outputs.

* Research industry benchmarks to ground model assumptions.

* Build pricing and margin models for mock product businesses.

* Model cash runway and burn for mock startups.

* Perform break-even and sensitivity analyses on key business drivers.

* Use AI tools to accelerate research, data cleanup, and documentation.

* Present model findings, valuations, and recommendations to stakeholders.

Requirements

* Current student or recent graduate in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.

* Strong interest in financial modeling, valuation, and corporate finance.

* Analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with large datasets.

* Strong spreadsheet skills (Excel or Google Sheets); formulas a must, modeling experience a plus.

* Good written and verbal communication skills, including presenting numbers clearly.

* Ability to check your own work and keep models clean and error-free.

* Interest in how businesses make financial decisions.

* Familiarity with financial statements (income, balance sheet, cash flow) is a plus but not required.

* Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar platforms is a plus.

* Previous professional finance experience is not required.

What You'll Gain

* Hands-on experience building production-quality financial models.

* Practical experience with DCF, comps, LBO, and operating models.

* Experience structuring forecasts, scenarios, and sensitivity analyses.

* Understanding of how models drive valuations and business decisions.

* Experience building dashboards and presenting model outputs.

* Understanding of unit economics, working capital, and capital structure modeling.

* Experience researching industries and benchmarking assumptions.

* Practical exposure to audit-trail and model-review best practices.

* Experience using AI and modern finance tools.

* Portfolio-ready financial modeling projects.

* Personalized AI feedback on your work.

* Professional certificate upon successful completion.

* Mentorship and weekly learning sessions.

* Opportunity to strengthen your portfolio, resume, and interview readiness.
