About the Role

A confidential government entity in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced Financial Systems Governance and Control Section Head to lead the governance, development, implementation, enhancement, and support of financial systems.

The role will oversee financial systems and platforms supporting financial operations, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and data integration. The successful candidate will work closely with Finance, Accounting, IT, and other key stakeholders to ensure financial systems are secure, reliable, integrated, compliant, and aligned with organisational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of financial systems and related modules.
Oversee ERP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial data integration platforms.
Ensure the availability, reliability, performance, security, and effectiveness of financial systems.
Provide technical support and guidance to end users and resolve system-related issues through effective root-cause analysis.
Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and system integration to enhance financial operations.
Oversee system upgrades, patches, configurations, and customisations while minimising disruption to business operations.
Establish and maintain appropriate system security controls and best practices to safeguard financial systems and data.
Support system audits, risk assessments, internal control evaluations, and the resolution of audit findings.
Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and government financial requirements.
Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, IT, auditors, external vendors, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and develop implementation plans.
Develop and maintain a strategic roadmap for financial systems in alignment with organisational objectives.
Oversee user training and provide guidance to ensure effective utilisation of financial systems.
Maintain accurate documentation covering system configurations, workflows, procedures, and processes.
Lead, mentor, and develop financial systems professionals while managing priorities and resources.
Monitor emerging technologies and industry best practices relevant to financial systems and digital finance.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Accounting with a focus on financial systems, or a related field.
Minimum 6 years of relevant professional experience.
Significant experience in financial systems implementation, development, configuration, customisation, and end-user support.
Experience with ERP and financial reporting systems is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of financial systems integration, financial reporting, process automation, and data governance.
Experience in system audits, risk assessments, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and relevant financial software applications.
Strong communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Demonstrated leadership experience, including team development, performance management, and resource planning.
High standards of integrity, confidentiality, data security, and regulatory compliance.
